So...What's The Deal With The Bouncy Seat?

My DD is almost 5 months old and loves her bouncy seat - don't know what we would do without it! Therefore, she is in it frequently throughout the day and mostly for short periods of time (30 minutes max). Here's the deal...almost EVERY time she is in it, she poops! What's up with that? I'm not posting this because I'm concerned, but just wanted to share. LOL!! ;-)

Apparently it's very relaxing and makes her feel quite comfortable. ;)

Much like getting changed at 3AM seemed to make Taran feel when he was a newborn, much to my husband's dismay. Ah, the number of times there was an "Auuugh! He pooped on me!" or "Auuugh! He just tried to poop on me!" during those first few weeks at about 3AM or so. ::snicker:: My mother and I still laugh about that, and I keep telling him how he gets to look forward to the new baby potentially doing this. ;)

Just wait. Gunnar has finally gotten too flexible for his seat, and now he hasn't pooped in 3 days. The bouncy seat was the only sure fire way to get him to poop. I admit to putting him in the seat for 10 minutes or so before long car rides or Dr's visits, just to get it done. This morning he was lying on the living room floor grunting and turning quite purple and I'm tempted to just put him in the bouncy, but I guess he has to learn to poop without it!!

Gabriel does the same thing in the Bumbo Seat I got him to help with his Torticollis and Plagiocephaly. Miriam calls it "potty" instead of "chair" or "seat." I guess she's right so far!

I think I've heard of the bouncy seat being called the "poop seat" here before too! I can't remember if DS did this. Maybe it is just the right incline for them to...uhhh....do their thing!
