View Full Version : Shameless Bragging :)

DS strung words together today! I think it was accidental, but he clearly said "Mummy bubbles" - of course I blew some bubbles for him - and later on he said "Mummy tickle" when he was tickling my belly. DH said that at his first diaper change this morning he said "Dada cold" plain as day, too - and since he started saying "cold" a few days ago I definitely believe it. DS has a ton of vocab, it's astounding to hear how fast he picks it up...

Anyhow, I think that when he says words perfectly, it's an accident because when he goes to say them again they're not quite right, until he's not thinking about it. But I'm crazy proud of him nonetheless :)

Your turn - let's see some more shameless bragging!

Yea, Nathan! Petra, that has to be so exciting to watch how fast he learns. I love listening to my DS "talk" (cooing and babbling).

I don't really have a shameless brag yet because DS is so little still (well, young at least - he's kind of a heiffer!). DH and I make sounds whenever we squeeze our noses. Mine says "beep", Luke's says "honk" and DH's says "ah-ooh-gah" like an old classic car. Anyway, Luke is learning to grab at things and his aim has improved tenfold. I watched him while he was beeping my nose the other day. As long as he was squeezing, I would hold the beep. Each time he gave me a new squeeze - even if he didn't let go - he got a new beep. It was amazing to me to watch him figure it out. Now he beeps my nose all the time, especially at bedtime when he'd rather play than sleep!

Also, he started talking and trying to touch the baby in the mirror a couple of days ago. It's so stinkin' cute that I don't mind the smeary handprints all over my mirrors. Get used to it, right? :O)

Yay, Nathan!

I don't have a lot to brag about, since Kaya doesn't seem to be particularly verbal. But when she started walking a month ago, it took her less than 2 weeks before she was walking backwards. :) Oh, and she learned to walk by standing up in the middle of the floor and walking. The first time we saw her do it, she walked from one room into the other.

That is exciting! I feel like once Brig started stringing a few words together things got so much easier!
Hmmm...bragging for us...
Brig peed in the potty twice yesterday.
Cadie has been sleeping pretty well at night.
Now all this will change tomorrow but I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

Eileen, Brig went through a walking backwards stage. It was purely for fun, but super dangerous. He also went through a "walking with something over my head" stage. Ah, fun!

Ah, something new to look forward to. :) Kaya's started putting hats and bags and other things over her head, but fortunately hasn't started walking that way yet.

Good job, talkin', walkin', sleepin' babes! : )

ETA: (remembering that I didn't respond directly to the OP: )Petra--that's amazing! This is quite young for 2 words together. I'm sure those weren't accidents. : ) Great job!

Jack talks like he's 14 and he's 4. He completely cracks people up (when he's not exhausting them).

Little Joshua is a late talker. Technically, we should probably be getting a speech eval, but I'm just not worried. He's doing great in other areas--his fine motor is excellent. He builds a mean tower out of Mega Blocks, he's started to run Thomas trains in the tracks. He's our little engineer-boy (like his Papa, my dad). He does play this awfully cute game with me. After nursing, he'll point to parts of my face, and when I name them for him, he gives me this absolutely adorable, impish grin. If I don't play, he'll keep poking me until I give in. It's so sweet.

That's great! It doesn't sound accidental to me.

My shamelss bragging - as of Friday night DD can consistantly flip from both back to front and front to back. She had be turning back to front for some time now, but I had not seen her turn front to back previously. I was so excited I took a little mpeg movie (took several tries to get it) and sent it to my parents.

YEA!

It comes sooo fast after that first sentance! Get a tape recorder- it is amazing how fast it goes from being random to coherent observations.

On a related note Toby and I were driving my father around yesterday and my father was being a bit of a PITA- very grumpy. He got out to go to the dry cleaners and Toby looked up and said "Grouchy Gone".
