I have a Level II ultrasound scheduled at 18 weeks (July 20) and I'm concerned that they won't be able to tell me the baby's gender. During my first pregnancy, I had an ultrasound at 17 weeks and the technician told me ahead of time that she probably wouldn't be able to tell. Luckily, the baby was not being shy, so the technician was able to tell me it was a boy. So I'm curious - at what week did you find out the gender of your baby via ultrasound?

My girlfriend just had a high def sono last week and could tell they are having a girl at 14w5days. I knew all 3 of my DS sex at 18weeks. It depends on the tech too :) Drinking orange juice before the u/s helps to get the baby moving for the pictures.

Both of mine were at 18 weeks and I found out both times.

With DD, we found out she was a girl for sure at 20 weeks (fist US). With DS, the doc told me the baby was a girl at our 20 week US. But at 22 weeks, the technician said it was a boy. That's why I only bought 2 blue coming home outfits for DS and even packed a pink one to the hospital, just in case. I guess it all depends on the baby's position and how experienced the technician is.

Good luck with your pregnancy :)

I had my L2 on Friday at 18 weeks and the tech could tell it was a girl. With DS, I knew earlier because I had so many ultrasounds (~15). I can't remember what week I found out with him, but it was definately before 18 weeks.

I asked this question last week and found out that there we're a few people that found out as early as 12 1/2- 13 weeks, although around 18-20 weeks was the norm.

I found out at 19 weeks (although I was almost 20 weeks along). I had been in a car accident, so I had my u/s a little early. When I went in for the 20-week u/s several days later, they confirmed that I was having a girl.

Mine is scheduled for tomorrow, and I will be 17 wks. I have been assured that they will see all that they need to see for a Level 2 US, including the sex. I hope it's true! I guess I'll know soon enough!

Right at 13 weeks last time! Of course, it was a schmancy u/s machine, and a super-experienced OB. I'm hoping to find out that soon again with this one - I have the NT scan coming up in two weeks, I'll be 12w3d.

Hi Lisa!
Hope you are doing well! Things have been going well here on our end.

Just wanted to pass on that due to a positive AFP test we had our u/s bumped up to 16 weeks and the tech told us we are having what looks like a healthy girl (eek!). We are ecstatic.

We'll be thinking of you in the coming weeks,

Cheryl

We found out with Taran at 16 weeks. This time, we found out at 20 weeks (didn't get the option of an ultrasound before then, other than the one at 6 weeks due to my first practice's paranoia). I believe the norm for ultrasounds is 18 to 20 weeks, though you can find out earlier than that as well.

Hey Lisa! With Ainsleigh, it wasn't a Level II and I think it was at 17.5 weeks? The tech said he THOUGHT it was a girl, but wasn't positive. My BIL confirmed it a couple weeks later. This time around, my u/s was at 20 weeks. The level II's are pretty clear. I bet you'll know. How exciting!!!! Will we have a Nigel after all?

We found out at my amnio/level II and I was exactly 17 weeks. The u/s tech told us that 17 weeks was a little too early and he didn't like to give definite answers at that stage but said he suspected a girl. When the perinatologist came in to perform the amnio we had him check and he said MOST DEFINITELY girl!

They were both right and this was confirmed with my healthy amnio results 10 excruciating days later!

Thanks, Andrea! It's nice to be back even though I don't get a lot of time on the boards with my very active little guy.

Honestly, I'm getting a boy vibe myself and have been having boy dreams. Tom also says "boy" every time I ask him what he thinks. :-)

My big u/s was at 19 weeks and Simon wouldn't cooperate. I had 2 more quicky gender checks and finally found out at 22 weeks.

I remember being told 18-20 was ideal.
