I purchased a ceramic flat iron from an ebay seller back in Aug 2004. I love the iron& have had no problems with it until 5/22 - it just stopped working out the blue. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. I decided to email the seller and see if they would replace it since I had had it for less than a year. The seller said they would honor a replacement up to a year and that all I needed to do was return the broken iron along with my check for $13.95 to cover shipping/handling. The iron was mailed back to the seller on 5/23, priority mail and was received by them on 5/25. I was told turn around time would be 1 week. 2 weeks go by and nothing. I emailed the seller and they said it would be shipped out in 1 week. 1 week later I get a UPS tracking number saying the item should be delivered by 6/9. However, when I click on the details of the tracking order this is what I get "UPS has received shipper's billing information electronically. Billing information received does not indicate shipment pickup or drop-off. Please contact the shipper for more details." After no response via email from the seller (several email on my part), I decided to try their 1-800 number listed on eBay, it doesn't work - how convenient.

Last week the seller finally gets back to me and says that the iron will be shipped out on Monday (6/20) and they have no idea what happened.

That is the last correspondence I have had with them. Once again, they are not replying to my emails and I have not received a revised tracking order.

This has been going on for 6 weeks! They have my defective iron and check, which has not been cashed and I have nothing. What recourse if any do I have? I have emailed eBay but I really don't think there is anything they can do. I am beyond frustrated!

i was going to tell you to do a stop payment on the check if you really dont think you are going to get it but it would cost more to stop check then the check in made out for. i dont know if ebay could do anything about it as this is an exchange that is taking place 9 months after purchase. ugh, dont you hate it when people try to screw ya over :(

Thanks for replying...

eBay has responded but said they are investigating, blah, blah, blah basically not much they can do.

I'm chalking it up to a loss and plan on never doing business with that particular seller again, although they have pretty good feedback. I ended up purchasing another iron from someone else and hope to have it by Friday.

I guess I can't complain as I have never really had a bad experience with eBay in the past several years that I've bought and sold.

i have just started selling stuff on ebay and am sooooo worried about screwing something up and someone leaving me bad feedback that i would jump thru hoops to make someone happy. i guess because i would want someone to do the same :)

i have also had some wonderful luck with ebay so far but with more and more horror stories comming out im sure my time is comming. i hope your new iron comes soon and heck, one day the other iron may show up on your doorstep, you just never know :)
