I had highlights done yesterday and although i'm pleased with the outcome (and the cut also) they aren't light enough. Can i get them done again lighter? Or is there a washout color product so i can "go blond" just for a few days? I have no desire to have permanent hair color done!
TIA!

My trick? It's low tech, but works nicely. Sit out in the sun for a little while.
The cuticle has already been opened and a little bit damaged by the bleach in the lightener. It will continue to be able to lighten a little more with sunlight or heat.
You won't turn platinum, and if you do it too much, you might be a little brassy, but usually, I'll just read outside with fresh highlights if they aren't light enough a few times, and it does the trick.
You can't wash out or use a semipermanent color to turn your hair lighter. To lighten darker hair, you have to actually use a bleaching type of product, so you can't really achieve what you want to that way.
My stylist and I have this problem frequently. She likes my hair darker than I do. Sometimes I win the highlight/lowlight war, sometimes she does (it looks nice either way), but sometimes I just want it a little lighter than it turns out, and that works well for me.

If you're really not happy, go back and have the stylist redo it. God knows we pay enough for highlights!

If your highlights are in the blond family, they very well may get lighter with time. I thought I was crazy when I noticed this in my hair, but then I asked the stylist on my next visit and she confirmed that the color does indeed get lighter. It may depend on the product used. I second the PPs suggestion of the sun, too!
