I have friends who will be traveling to get their (adopted) 10 month old son in the next 2-3 weeks. I wanted to put together a care package for them for when they get home and needed some ideas. I plan to cook a few meals and freeze them, but I'm kind of at a loss for what to get after that. (Maybe a six pack? ;)) Seriously, I wanted to toss in things that might help with passing the time/helping with bonding in quiet ways for those first few days, but all I could think of was a big bottle of bubbles for the baby. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Jenn

Maybe a few of your favorite board books they could read with their baby? I like the bubbles idea, too. How about a few pretty playsilks to play peek-a-boo with, and cuddle? Check out www.bumbershootbaby.com .

Oooh! I like the idea of those playsilks! They're so pretty and so versatile!

You could also add a few bath toys, like the squirty fish by Munchkin (I think it is) to make bath time fun. Or some grapeseed oil or some other edible oil and a baby massage book.

These were the squirty fish I recently got that Kaya enjoys:

I love the playsilk idea! I might just get a whole rainbow and keep some for myself ;) I also really llike the bath toys and massage oil, but I don't know too much about oils. What would you reccomend? Thanks!

i'm pecking one handed w/b in arms...
but wanted to second the bubbles...they will love them!
and totally agree the play silks mentioned above would be awesome....i just got some and my kids love them...now at 10 months i can see where you will only get a few uses out of them but as tine goes on they will get tons...but if going to an orphanage and toddlers or older than others will love them too!!!!
Phone cards would be another nice idea...depending where they are they might have to buy them but money towards one maybe...

It's so nice of you to think ahead. This will not fall into your care package idea, but something that alot of friends did for us was leave "welcome home" yard signs along our driveway with balloons, etc. on the night that we got home. It was 3 a.m. and we were exhausted, but seeing the signs welcoming our children home was really touching.

A nice gift might be a small pillow embroidered with the baby's name on it. It's not very practical, but it could be a good reminder of his first days at home. HTH some.
