A friend of mine wants to go to NYC with her three year old. She was wondering what taxis do for children, since most don't have carseats. Any city savy BBBers out there?
TIA!

When riding in NYC taxis, riders with small children are exempt from carseat laws. Of course you can provide your own, but the taxi does not need to provide one and your child is not required to sit in one.

Because it is not realistic to lug a full-sized car seat around with her during the day, your friend has to figure out her comfort level with riding in a cab without a carseat.

As her child is three years old and walking, she can easily use the subway and bus system if she brings a lightweight umbrella stroller. This way she won't have to worry about taking a taxi if being without a carseat makes her nervous.
