What on earth am I missing? Where did this TC business begin and what's happening now?

Let's see.. where to start? Let's go timewise...

TC fires his old manager who told him to keep his Scientology crap to himself and not talk about it much. Instead he hires his own sister as a manager who is a YES-WOMAN and tells TC to spout off whatever he likes. (OK, i might totally have made that up.. someone confirm this).

So TC goes nutso and tries to recruit young women stars. He starts with Scarlett Johannsen, calls her repeatedly, saying he wants to meet her. So they meet, guess where? The church of scientology. And their first dinner date, he opens this door in the church where there is a big hall full of scientology leaders. Scarlett is like 'what up?" and runs for her life. Smart cookie (he didn't even offer her a cookie apparently).

Then he tries recruiting Jessica Alba and other young girls. No go. Finally Miss Kate Holmes decides her career needs this publicity, being that she is a mediocre actor. So she agrees to join the church and goes underground for 16 days. They emerge professing their love for each other all over the place. However, since he is really gay, he only kisses her to the side of her lips.. never any real kissing going on (once again, might be talking through my behind).

They are both promoting their summer blockbusters, so their romance gives their movies much needed publicity.

TC appears on Oprah and acts like a jackass.
TC appears on other shows and says some scathing things about people who take mind-controlling drugs (his words). Scientology does not believe in psychology. And as we all know, high-school drop out, Dr. Tom Cruise knows best.

He gets engaged to Katie. There is a contract stipulation. $5 million for her to stay with him for 5 years. No sex. No kids.

I think that wraps up most of the details!

Funny....Tom and Katie said that they wanted to have children in interviews shortly after they became engaged (of course, I instantly thought I'll believe it when I see it! :)). Also, I believe it was in People or something, but Tom does have a GED (it mentioned how he fought against his dyslexia to earn it). Just more fun facts...

I saw for the 1st time yesterday someone posted about this contract. Where did you all hear about this contract? I must read :) I'm loving this TC crap!

They adopted because he has infertility problems. aka-a low sperm count. I have this from an extremely reliable source.........So I guess the stipulation is to limit more adoptions or banking? or the small chance that he could produce enough to get her pregnant?
(I've just been dying to drop this little tidbit of info that I have carried around for 10 years....)

I posted this in the other thread, but I got more confirmation of the contract from a coworker whose sister is a personal assistant to a young Hollywood starlet. She said the contract (and the whole thing with Scarlett and the list) is well known among the young Hollywood crowd. The sister also reports that Nicole had/has a very similar contract AND that Nic did NOT want kids, TC did.

Take it all for what it's worth ;) Even if it's only a little true... who lives like that??????????

I just remembered that NK was pregnant when TC told her that he wanted a divorce and that shortly there after she had a miscarriage. She said that tom was the father, but, well, it's kind of hard to believe. hmmm I wonder who it was?

I don't think I've done a single post on TC, but I definitely want to read this.

I have to say that I haven't seen too many of his movies, and while I really enjoyed Mission Impossible, the movie itself, his acting left a lot to be desired. (Of course, I believe that about Keanu Reeve's movies, too, but at least he's "normal"!) So I haven't really seen a lot of his movies. My brother (an actor/dancer) has hated his acting for the longest time and was totally on NK's side when they divorced, but I hadn't seen many of his movies at the time, so I couldn't truly comment, although I did know I didn't really think he was much of an actor in the movies I did see, and I did think NK was a pretty good actress in comparison.

Anyway, now I don't think I'll ever be able to see his movies without gagging. It's too bad, too, because I was looking forward to War of the Worlds when I first heard Spielberg was remaking it.

Nicole said in an interview once that when you have kids, you have to be very careful what you say to the media about their father. She doesn't want them reading something negative she says now in 20 years that might hurt them.

Wasn't there something in the timing of Tom's divorce to Nicole? I know the filing date was right before their 10 year anniversary and I think it has to do with her getting more money if they were married beyond that timeframe.
