A little gelato place opened up in our town and
I finally had one! I can totally understand
Jill's gelato obsession now! (Although, I'm quite
sure your gelato was MUCH better since you were
in Italy!!)

I have to say that I now have a new addiction!!
I think I hear a Hazelnut gelato calling my name! :)

Thanks, Jill for introducing me to the wonderful
world of GELATO! Yummmmmmm

Yes, it is the yummiest stuff ever!!!! And it IS better in Italy, but everything is! LOL I have been to several gelato places in the US that were pretty darn good, and any gelato is better than no gelato.

I will be CRAVING it as soon as I get my appetite back. I have been trying to talk DH into an impromptu visit to Rome, but I don't think it is going to happen.

Glad you liked it! And yummm...hazelnut...chocolate hazelnut....yummy. I'm going to be thinking of this all night. ;)

Corie,

Another convert to the dark side :).

Are you in Dallas? I haven't been there for months, but one of my friends has been telling me about the yummy gelato place over there! I am dying to go (stifling the urge to drive to Dallas now ;)).

And stay away from the gelato at Central Market. I love Central Market, but I think the gelato there is marginal (not worth the calories, LOL).

I'm so glad you liked it! My fav. flavors are strawberry, chocolate, and chocolate chip (stracciatella) :) :) :)!

I'll go with you, Jen! We will be treated like queens by saying three simple words: aspetto un bambino! It worked for me last month ;).

My favorite is tiramisu and chocolate--they smush both side-by-side in the cup. Mmmm.

Ooh, love the stracciatella too. That is DH's favorite, so I am always guaranteed to get some. hehe:)

Oh, yes Jill...let's go. We have such a great excuse to eat and eat until our hearts content. Gotta wait until my M/S is gone. :(

I am kicking myself for not planning the trip to Italy this year. Now we'll never get there...at least until the kiddos are older.

Ciao Bella and Bindi are two brands that I've found that come pretty close to the 'real' stuff.

Ciao Bella can be sometimes found at Whole Foods.

Bindi is imported and can only be bought in those giant containers for restaurant service. However, I found out that they will sell it to a regular person. Anybody wanna take the shelves out of their freezers? ;) :P

ETA - Trader Joe's chocolate gelato isn't bad, but it's a little bitter. Must be semi-sweet...

Ok, not to upset you about a Trader Joe's mention, but TJ's now carries gelato and they have a Tiramisu one that I think is super yummy. If I can think of a way to send some in dry ice, I will :)

But I haven't tried.

For Philly mamas, there's a place here(there?)that is pretty darn close :)

Corie,

If you are in DFW, where is that gelato place?
Have you tried Paciugo? They have Rose and Violet flavor that are fragrant as well.

Yum, yum, ugh, I need to watch out for reminders to one of my addictions!

I have tried Paciugo. It was really good!

But there is a gelato place in my town that is
super! It isn't a chain or franchise.

I can email you the name of it. :)

I've gotten Ciao Bella at Sutton Place Gourmet/Balducci's. I'll have to ask our Whole Food to start carrying it.

We had pretty good gelato a few weeks ago in West Palm - mmmmm.

Yummy! When DH and I went to Rome, we ate Gelato at least 2 times per day every day!

I'm not too far from Philly, in the LV. There's a place here called Dave's Deli that sells gelato. The owner bought the gelato machine from Italy and he uses the Italian method to make it. He does it right in the store, too!

The great thing about gelato is that it's lower in fat than ice cream. Now all I need is sugar-free gelato and you'll have one more gelato addicted Mama on your hands! :9
