Yesterday she came down with a mild case fortunately - b/c she did indeed have the vaccine when she was younger. She's been over here all week - lugging Neve around. So what are Neve's chances of getting a full-blown case?? She hasn't had the vaccine yet.

I guess I'm secretly hoping Neve gets them.

Pam-

If the kid had open or oozing lesions, then your girls could have easily been exposed. If they weren't open yet, you have a pretty good chance of missing out on the opportunity. Sounds like you may have lucked out if she just got them yesterday.

Nothing you can do now, but wait and see - and cut Neve's nails REALLY short ;)

If Neve gets them, can you bring her over to expose Kaya? ;)

From what I understand, you need exposure to the oozing legions to get it, so chances are that Neve did not get it, but I guess you can observe her over the next few days.

Ditto! I SOOO want C to get them naturally but I suppose now's not a good time with a 6 week old and all....

I just looked it up in a medical book (mom's an RN and passes on her old stuff) - "it is contagious from 24-48 hrs prior to rash onset and through 24 hours after the last new blister appears. This can be from 5-7 days." Incubation period is from 10-21 days. Looks like Neve MAY have been exposed already but you could take her over and encourage them to share a cup if you really want her exposed ;)

Well, here's Dr. Sears' take: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T083400.asp

I intended to skip the vaccine, but it turns out Gracie got it in a pack of others without me even knowing it. Gold star for Mom! x(

If she does get it, do you have a little kiddie pool? I had them in July when I was 4 and the little neighbor sh$t dragged his pool over in front of my glass door (we lived in a duplex) and splashed while sticking his tongue out to me. So to assuage my childhood memory, make sure she has a kiddie pool of her own. ;) You can throw some baking soda or Aveeno in there for good measure...
