View Full Version : Update: Talked to Mid-Wife ~ U/S was this morning

She wants me to go have another u/s in two weeks. That way she can see if anything is different and what things have developed by then. 2 weeks, or 12 days, sigh...

Can I say how much I hate this running around? I had my first prenatal appt. on June 28th, the ultrasound July 5th, I have to get my blood drawn next week, have the ultrasound the week after that, and then my 2nd prenatal appt is week after that! I hate all this running from here to there, makes all my vaca/sick time go into the toilet. Need the time for later in Pregnancy when I am uncomfortable. :)

Someone needs to establish a OB office here at work... lol

Thanks for the good vibes, I am trying to stay cheery I swear. Even though it doesn't seem that way I know and it is hard but I am trying to be an optimist.

I had to tell my boss b/c of all the time I am taking off, she was happy for us, but sad because she knows I am going to quit in Feb now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good news:
There is a yolk sac and what she thinks is an embryo.
Bad news:
No heartbeat.
Tech said not to worry and to come back in a week so that they can do another u/s and hopefully there will be a heatbeat. According to the computers calculations it looks as though I am 5 weeks and 6 days preggo.
I just can't help but be throw back into the days when I had four or five u/s's only to be told finally that the pregnancy was not viable. I am calling my CNM tomorrow she should have the results by then.
I am so frustrated and I hate all the waiting. :(
Oh, Christy, I'm so sorry that your u/s didn't show a good heartbeat. Is there any chance that you're really less than 5w6d pg? Maybe that's it? I hope that you get good news next week and that this week passes quickly! Hugs!
Christy,
I'm glad to hear you at least go partially good news! I'll be thinking of you and praying that you are able to see a heartbeat at the next U/S.
I know the wait must be agony! I know how scary it can be to find out that a pg is not viable, and hopefully you won't hear those words. Hugs to you while you wait!
5w6d is very early to see a heartbeat!!
Give it another week or so - it is common to not see it until about 7w!
Good luck!!
Crossing my fingers as well. I agree, not to give you false hope but it is early to see a heartbeat. Seriously.
I pray that you'll see one next week. I'm sure the wait will be agonizing, but hopefully it will be well worth it. Thinking of you.
ETA-I was thinking it was 6.5 weeks as the average time that the heartbeat is usually seen. I just googled it and average seems to be 6.5 to 7 weeks. So, try to have faith that all is well.
(((hugs)))
It's so hard not to borrow trouble, isn't it? I hope you are distracted over the next week so you don't think too hard before the next u/s, and of course, I hope that u/s shows you what you're looking for.
Thinking about you!
Let's focus on that yolk sac! :)
I agree that it's early to hear a heartbeat. I didn't hear Kayla's until 9 weeks.
Sending positive thoughts your way...
Christy-
It's really early to find a HB. I agree that you should wait till 7-8w before worrying too much.
Christy -
If this helps at all, we did not have a heartbeat (just the sac) at 5w5d, but we did have one at 6w5d - so, I think the tech is right that it might just be too early. I had some spotting, so I was scared to death - now he's 2! Good luck, and keep us updated.
You still are so early - the heartbeat may not show because of that. This is not uncommon to happen, I hope that this is your case as well. ((HUGS))
Hugs, Christy! I know the wait must be agonizing. I had a threatened miscarriage at 5.5 weeks with this pregnancy and the ultrasound tech told me that it is very difficult to detect a heartbeat at that stage. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Christy, I know that feeling of waiting in the very beginning. It was by far the hardest part of pregnancies. The only benefit to having had any problems in the past is the intense monitoring that you go through in the first days of your susequent pregnancies.
Keep us posted.
I am sorry you are going through this.
We had two scares during my pregnancy and they turned out to be just that- scares.
There is nothing you can do so please try, try, try to stay positive.
You and baby are in my prayers.
That is so hard! FWIW, I didn't have a heartbeat yet at 5w 5d, but did three days later. You are very, very early. I know that doesn't help at all, but hopefully the next few days will fly by and you will get great news.
Waiting sucks. x( You'll be in my prayers, I'll cross my fingers and avoid all cracks in the sidewalk for you!
It is so hard not to worry, but I appreciate all the prayers and reassurances. :) I will try to keep my chin up. I stayed home with DD today to recoup a little and get some rest.
The reason I am a little concerned with not seeing a heartbeart is that according to my LMP date I should be almost 7 weeks. But the more I thought about it there was a similar issue with DD so I am hoping that I just have long cycles and that things will progress. Thanks again. :)
Christy, it really is early to see a heartbeat. Try not to worry too much (easy for me to say, I know!). I know how frustrating it is to wait. I hope you get good news next week!
Sending prayers for tiny baby!
BTW, do you know when you actually ovulated? LMP dates are very inaccurate for predicting due dates. Also, if there was any stress/illness going on around your usual ovulation date, you may have ovulated late. Just something to consider.
Keep us updated!
Christy,
With DD I charted so I knew when I ovulated and when LMP was and when we could have conceived,,,,that being said I went for a positive blood test at 5 weeks. The doctor told me I couldn't be that far along according to my HCG levels. They sent me for an ultrasound at 6 weeks and no heart beat. At 7 weeks .....going strong! So it proved to me that this is not an exact science. These little babies do things in their own time.
You are in my prayers!
Christy hang in there! Maybe the next two weeks would be a good time for some time sucking projects to help keep your mind on other things. Is the blood work next week for your HCG levels? I hope your DH is giving you lots of extra love and support through all this. Keep us updated as things progress!
Oh Will keep you guys updated don't worry. Not very many IRL people know yet. Despite DH and his loose lips.
Hmm, my basement does need cleaned...though I might kill myself by moving something and causing an avalanche....
Oh and they are monitoring my platelets b/c I am on Lovenox a blood thinner. I think she has HCG checked on the requisition too, though I could be wrong. It is at home....
