see now your boys look younger in this picture then they did in the other, go figure. nathan reminds me of my older ds because he was about that size at that age, maybe even a lb or 2 bigger :P that is a beautiful view and you have a beautiful family.

Wow, what an absolute gorgeous photo. I absolutely adore Yosemite. I've only been there twice but I have such fond memories. My sister is a very talented photographer and has taken some breathtaking photos there.

We just got back from California last week. The trip was actually for my sisters wedding, but it was the first vacation DH and I have taken in 4 years and our first real family vacation. We did the whole theme park bit, Disneyland, Legoland, Universal. We had a grand time. My only regret is not hanging out at the pool more.

My friend was on Pimp My Ride recently. Her van broke down again so she had to take it back to West Coast Customs to be repaired. It's right by the airport so we dropped her off there on our way home. Here's a pic of us right outside the entrance. This is one of the few pics we have all together since one of us is usually holding the camera.

ok, i have to show my dh. we love that show and watch it often. that is just too awesome :)

i am happy that you got to have a vacation and it sounds like you had fun. i cant wait for our first family vacation.

>i cant wait for our first family vacation.

Same here! We always did Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket - and just recenly Kiawah Island, SC - but with a new baby I think our vacation days are over for a year or so. I really want to make the "family vacation" a tradition for us as I never really had that growing up.

that is just what i want to do. we never took family vacations when i was young, not that they would have been fun (dad was an alcoholic). i want my kids to look back and remember all the great times we had together and all the places they got to see. i was always sad at school when kids would talk about where they went and what they saw over the summer. once they are potty trained it is off we go :)

we're huge MV fans. This is the first summer we have not gone in a long time. But we were there this winter, and I'm sure you know it's a very different island then :)

We're house-sitting for family in Kelowna, BC in a couple of weeks. It's in the Okanagan, and supposedly there are beaches, wineries, and orchards in walking distance of the house...I can't wait!!!

I went to Italy for two weeks earlier this summer, but it wasn't exactly vacation ;)!

We're getting ready to go to Corpus Christi in a couple of weeks (DH has a conference there) and then Ellie and I are going to Indianapolis to visit family for a couple of weeks. When we return from Indiana, DH, Ellie, and I are meeting up with friends in Memphis for a weekend.

Whew! I'll need a vacation to recover from my vacations, LOL!

Wow, what a beautiful family! You all look like you had sooo much fun! DH, who grew up in Northern NM, really misses scenery like this! Oh, and I still owe you an e-mail. :)

ETA: Oh, in answer to your original question, we have no plans for vacation this summer. Christmas we're going to FL and I'm trying to figure out if we can do a trip to CA before then.

Yes it is very different off season - and I miss Jimmy Sea's Pan Pasta. ;)

One of the things I'd love to be able to do is spend Christmas on Nantucket - maybe one day if I could convince our families to all go together and rent a house.

People w/ young kids go on vacation?!?

Unfortunately, we just visit family at this stage of our lives. Indiana for the July 4th holiday, Arizona last January, and I'm going to Seattle in August.

We were just on the QM2 sans DS. We'll be in Pennsylvania Dutch country in a few weeks w/ DS and other family members - i think we might take in the Crayola Factory, Dorney Park and a few other things. In Sept/Oct we'll do some long weekends to New England and/or DC.

Jeana - what a great shot of you and your family :-)

There's actually quite a bit to do in that area w/ a toddler. Peddler's Village isn't too far away; it's outlets plus a children's play place (can't recall the name!). Then of course Dorney, etc! It's a trip i've taken since i was born to a car show in macungie, pa; now w/ DS we're trying to plan activities for him to enjoy as part of it.

we rented a house for a week for both our families in Chilmark for a and got married in the middle of that week. People still talk about our little wedding, and FIL is talking about renting the same house ina year or two to take the kids back :):)

Maybe a different house. That one was $$$ as it overlooked Menemsha :)

What a great photo!

These days all of our vacations involve going to visit family. We took DD to Cancun in February (met my dad there) and will go to New York this summer to see the 'rents again. My dad lives in the Hamptons so at least that's a quasi-vacation.

Well, we're really not going on a vacation this year as we are planning a big trip to Disneyworld for next year. However, DH and I will be going to Half Moon Bay (near San Francisco) in November for a work conference I have to attend). I've never been there, but the resort looks heavenly, and I am absolutely ecstatic to be able to do some fun shopping at Naartjie and Hanna Andersson, etc...

Half Moon Bay is great! My husband and I stayed overnight at a great B&B for his birthday one year, and it was one of my favorite trips down from SF or over from the west part of the peninsula!

What a great picture! DH and I did a five day backpacking trip in Yosemite back before we were married - climbed half dome and then made a big loop - it was one of my favorite trips EVER!

Our only summer vacations this year are to visit family, but we just today booked our flights for a September trip to Portugal. I cannot wait! We have close friends there, so we go there fairly frequently. We are going to rent the same house we had last summer and are bringing my mom with us so that we can get out for a night or two with our childless friends.

We just got back from Chicago, Lake Wisconsin and Minneapolis for ten days! Not a huge fan of the humidity, but love the shopping!
We live in the Bay Area and LOVE Half Moon Bay.. it's beautiful and relaxing. You will have a wonderful time.
We live most of the summer in Lake Tahoe, so that's a vacation in itself!

Gorgeous picture of a gorgeous family!

Unfortunately, we're not planning anything major again this summer (pg again and just don't have the energy!). Anyway, we did take a day trip to York Beach in Maine, which was great! I love it up there. We're hoping to go for a few days again. But that's probably about it except for day trips here and there.

We went to Amelia Island in May and I would definitely go back! It is a great place for families. We stayed at the Amelia Island Plantation and were able to get a condo on the beach with a kitchen and washer/dryer. The thought of going a week without laundry is mind-boggling. And I loved having the kitchen-we ate about half our meals in the condo.

I would love to go back when the kids are a little older with another family.

We are going to Quebec City. With a 19 month, 4 1/2, and 15 year old, vacations are a challenge. We have been out west, all over the south, bored with beach vacations, and would go to Europe in a second if the travel time was cut in half. Since we can't afford to fly the Concorde, we will go to Quebec City where it resembles Europe and is very quaint.

Gorgeous family picture!

We have not had a vacation this year. Hopefully, we will be able to go on a cruise in the fall though. We will be taking DD, so it will probably be just a 4 day cruise to test the waters and see if we'd like to take a week-long cruise in the future.

Like a lot of people who already posted, most of our vacation time is spent visiting family now. My family is 600 miles away, and DS is the only grandchild, so we visit them a lot. We're going to Aruba next month with DH's whole family (parents, siblings, etc), which I'm really looking forward to - except for trying to entertain DS on the long flight!

Beautiful pic!

We are headed to the Myrtle Beach area in few weeks. This will be the third year in a row I've stayed in the same rental house. I'll want to start redecorating it soon!

The last two years it was with my family, this year it with the in-laws. Wish me luck!

we've been really busy this summer, but my strategy is to spend as little time in South Florida during the summers as possible- just too darn smoking hot.

In May, wedding in Atlanta then Napa and San Fran (all with DH only)

In June, wedding in Dallas (me only)

4th of July, Michigan to visit DH's family for a week

August, North Carolina lake house for a week with my family

DS is still really messed up from the Michigan trip. The plane rides were a nightmare, he went to bed 3 hours late every night, would only sleep in our bed, was soooo mommy clingy, didnt eat well, blah blah blah. I think the NC trip will be a much calmer environment, but traveling with a toddler almost negates the whole concept of a vacation.

What an awesome picture! Your "boys" are all so handsome and the scenery is gorgeous! We are spending a week on Lake Chautauqua in western NY, where I grew up. I'm soooo looking forward to getting out of this steamy GA weather! I just have to convince DH that a week without sweet tea won't kill him. He is such a southern boy.

That is a beautiful picture. Dh loves Yosemite and has taken several pictures of the scenery. He has 3 that he had blown up, and those are displayed in our home.

No plans for any vacation though. Unfortunately, I used up all my vaction time when I visited my mother who was sick, and she eventually passed away.
