I finally joined Blockbuster Online this weekend. Anyone have suggestions to help me fill my Queue?

We just saw Meet the Fockers. It was really funny. I also liked "In Good Company" with Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace & Scarlett Johansson.

We've been catching up on old Sopranos episodes we missed. But, we recently saw Hitch with Will Smith and really liked it.

LOL, do you want a copy of our queue, past and present? ;) I think we've gotten a hundred movies/shows so far and have over a hundred on our queue. But here are some movies we have seen!

Some "non-hollywood" movies that we've seen lately that are great are:

Whale Rider (2003)
Bagdad Cafe (1988)
Cinema Paradiso: Director's Cut (1988)
Legend of 1900 (1998)
Winged Migration
The Notebook (2004)
Bend It Like Beckham (2002)
Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 (if you don't mind some violence, although he kind of takes it over the top making it not as bad--pretty hilarious as well)

Some older movies:
Parenthood (1989)
First Do No Harm (1997) (our choir member was in this movie at the end)
The Italian Job (1969)

Some funny/quirky movies:
Mean Girls (2004)
Saved! (2004)
Spirited Away (2002)
Amelie (2001)
Shrek 2 (2004)
A Bug's Life (1998)
Freaky Friday (2003)

Awesome Hollywood Movies (haven't seen many lately--this is the last one we saw, not counting HP movies and LoTR):
Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Depressing but very powerful--I'm from Baltimore and my fellow teacher wrote this:
The Corner: Disc 2 (2000)
The Corner: Disc 1 (2000)

Have fun!

Eileen

How about Dodgeball? We thought it was pretty darn funny. We finally saw Napoleon Dynamite. It wasn't bad.

I recently saw "Personal Velocity" with Parker Posey and thought it was excellent. I also saw "Breaking Away" last week for the one millionth time. It's a wonderful movie!

And go Eileen! I second the suggestion of Baghdad Cafe--that movie rocks!

I could suggest more movies, but I'll stop for now :)!

Wasn't that a cool movie? It was such a fun movie. My sister actually at at the Baghdad Cafe recently--she said it wasn't anything special, except of course the movie took place there. :)

I absolutely love that movie! I think the sense of place is extraordinary and the characters are great. But the thing I love the most is the music. I used to have the soundtrack, I wonder what happened to it?!

I loved Laurel Canyon!

And that is one of my *favorite* Homer Simpson quotes. My sister and I say it all of the time, LOL!

Ok, I'll stop responding to this thread :).

Loved The Quiet American. Loved the book better, but the movie was excellent too.

I am not a huge movie person (still trying to figure out what to go see this week, why is it so hard for me to decide!), but here are some recent ones that I remember

--De-lovely--based on life of Cole Porter
--La vita e bella (Life is Beautiful, won Oscar for best foreign film a couple of yrs a go/ I have a crush on Roberto Benigni, but DH doesn't feel threatened, LOL). This one is if you want to laugh and sob withing a couple of hours.

--Bread and Tulips--light and cute, also italian.

I want to see Sea Inside, etc.

I think online movie services lend themselves to seeing something "off the beaten path." Along those lines, I recommend Monsoon Wedding and The Weeping Camel. I've also heard Winged Migration is beautiful, but I haven't seen it. Also beautiful: Hero.

Ok, one more response! The Guru is one of my all-time favorite movies. Just noticed it on your list! That is a definite must-see!
