I *must* have sugar in my morning coffee, but figure it as an easy way to cut some calories from my diet. Can you recommend a decent tasting sub?? I've tried Equal, but it gives me headaches! Any others?

Thanks!

Can you use Splenda?

Splenda gets my vote if you must use a sub.

Another vote for Splenda. I don't notice an aftertaste when I use it in my coffee, but it tastes a little weird in tea.

Splenda's pretty good, but I've heard some people complain about the aftertaste. If you don't like it, Zylosweet (zylitol) is even more like sugar as far as texture and taste, but it's quite expensive ($9/bag I think). You can get it at most health food stores since it's not really on the public's radar yet.

I've been using Splenda for a long time now in my coffee and I really like it.

What about stevia? Unlike all other sugar substitues which are artifical, it is 100% natural (Splenda says it is "made from sugar" but they chemically adulterate it by the addition of chlorine to make it sweeter). Stevia is a natural herb that is many times sweeter than sugar. We have some growing in our garden right now. You can find it in the health food section in powder, tablets or drops. Because it is an herb some weird FDA rule says it can't be called a "sweetener" and it has to be sold as a "dietary supplement". One common brand is SweetLeaf. Here are a couple websites. If you google for "stevia" you'll find a lot more.

I was going to recommend stevia as well. I love that it is natural, and the taste is great. You only need a small amount. The drops are perfect for coffee, tea, etc.
