just curious...my moms club is passing an email on about an amber alert of a 9 year old girl in sc.

I think amber alerts if real are great to send via this way for pictures are there to see etc...

BUT how does one know if it is true or not...
this girl has been missing for two weeks evidently and I guess the wording on the email just makes me think it might not be true...it keeps saying things like "it only two seconds to pass it around etc..."

I was just curious if a virus could be sent this way or would such an alert be real.

www.amberalert.gov would be the official word.

www.snopes.com has lists of a lot of the frequently "spammed" ones that are untrue or have been solved for years.

I have received a few of these in the past as well and at the time I researched it on the internet to learn it was an internet hoax.

Here's one for Penny Brown which is a hoax.

Its ashame if people are taking advantage of a great system (ie Amber Alert). I wouldn't think its real since you didn't hear anything about it on the news. The media and government really cover Amber Alerts all over the place--it seems.

You can also check on truthorfiction.com

I get so annoyed with all the junk (untrue) e-mails going around and around and back again.
