View Full Version : I did it...I accepted the new job offer!

It was tough, but in the end the difference was only about $225 a month when I take into account the benefits and a few other things. I will now have to make that up by generating my own work. The money isn't a big deal other than DW will not work at all next year and since she is an independent contractor, we will be on one salary.

I definitely had a hard time making the decision because I do love where I work and it is laid back. I don't work long hours and rarely work on the weekends. But in the end, the work itself wasn't doing it for me. The partners were sad to see me accept the offer but each one said I have to do what makes me happy. Hopefully I will find more enjoyment in the new job. I have a trial Aug. 29 that I am trying to pass off on someone so I can take that whole week off and start the day after Labor Day.

Thank you to everyone who responded and offered support. Everyone I have talked to says I did the best thing for me, and that is always the right decision. So, if you ever need a lawyer in Virginia, you know where to look!

Good to hear you'll be enjoying your job soon. I know from talking with DH it's hard to be unhappy where you spend so much time. I'm so glad you took the plunge. Your whole family will be happier for it. :)

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll enjoy your new job.

I remember reading your post about deciding, and don't think I had a chance to respond. Finding good, rewarding attorney jobs can be difficult (still looking, myself ;)), but it sounds like you're happy with your decision.

Are you in the metro DC area? What type of law will you practice? People often ask me for referrals and I don't know of any in VA. I'd be happy to pass your name along. Feel free to email me.

Congratulations to you! I have thought about you a few times. I or my sister just might need a lawyer in Virginia for that big custody/will question (see other thread), so maybe we'll meet in person one day.

Congrats! Here's hoping it is all you were looking for and more! And good luck passing off your trial. It would be great to have that week off for transition.
