We hired our homebirth midwife! I'm feeling really excited and positive about our choice, and I'm getting more excited every day about having this baby at home. Losing our birth center has been SO stressful, and it feels really, really good to have closed in on another plan. I'm feeling much better. :)

I'm so happy for you Rachel, that everything is starting to come together for your beautiful home birth. I can't wait to hear all about it! Maybe it will give me the guts to go forward with my desire for a homebirth :)

That's great news. I hope your stress level is going down!

I would love to have a homebirth. I'm jealous!

Hooray!
I know it's got to be hard to have such changes in the late part of your pregnancy, but I must say I agree with someone who posted on the other thread- I think you were meant to have a homebirth. :) I'm glad it's all coming together for you!

Congrats on finding a midwife Rachel! I've been wondering how your birth plans were coming along. It's never too late to have a homebirth-- I've heard of women switching from hospital/OB planned births to homebirths as late as 38 weeks! As long as you're not in labor yet it's never too late to change your mind. Are you planning to have a tub to labor/birth in too? I'd highly recommend having one set up even if waterbirth doesn't appeal to you-- I loved my waterbirth-- it really does make the pain like 10 times less and laboring women are often drawn to the water naturally! I can't wait for my next homebirth (which is many years away), but I can live through you right? :)

Oh, absolutely. I labored in water with Abigail and simply couldn't have done it without the tub. She wasn't born in water just because I didn't happen to be there while I was pushing, but waterbirth is definitely appealing to me. I've been researching birth tubs. :)

Everything happens for a reason, and it seems like you've found the reason! I think you are going to LOVE a homebirth, and can't wait to read all about it! :)

OOh Rachel - so happy for you! You will positively LOVE the experience, I am certain. I switched at 26 weeks and my ONLY regret is that I saw an OB at all this pregnancy (well, that and the fact that I didn't HB with Caleb, too ;) )

As for the tubs, I got an inflatible kiddie pool (recommended by pamamidwife on MDC) but didn't get to use it :( It is supposedly more confortable than any of the "real" waterbirth pools because the bottom and sides are padded but you can't just leave it filled up and ready since there is no heater. FWIW, I don't think I'd pay big $$ to rent an aquadoula (etc.) but if my MW offered one as part of her "package" I'd use it but put eggcrates under it for padding :)

So glad you can just RELAX now and ENJOY the rest of your pregnancy!!!

Yes, I love the looks of the kiddie pool. Our hot water heater is woefully insufficient, though, and I'm due in October in New England. I think I really will need one with a heater. Good idea about the egg crates, though! At the birth center, I labored in a huge jacuzzi, and I just put towels under my knees to make it softer.
