I must say that I can relate to Elaine's saga on the show. When I was going to grad school in Philly (pre-baby and DH days) I was on the hunt for them and walked all over center city from pharmacy to pharmacy looking for them. Then I was told they were taken off the market.

Just wanted to post for anyone who is interested....It's not like I'm getting much of that now anyway...LOL...

FYI: You can get them at http://www.birthcontrol.com/index.php?cPath=21&page=1&sort=3d.

I brought a bunch back from Canada last year.

I'm not getting much of "that" either-which is exactly why they are so perfect. After I had Jack 2 1/2 years ago the Today sponge website said that they had been approved by the FDA-I still had my supply left from friends from Canada so I didn't worry too much-I couldn't believe that they still weren't available in the States last month when I checked.
We went on vacation with the last of my sponges....fingers crossed.

So talk to me about the sponge! I've never been able to use oral contraceptives and even the Nuva ring gives me bad side effects, so I'm always looking for something new to try!

if you go to the today sponge website they go over all the facts and figures but in a nutshell-it has a fairly high reliability-(can't remember exactly) but I figure between it and bfing I should be okay until DH gets the snippers. Very easy to use-similar in insertion to a diaphragm but disposable. I think I paid about $3.00 per sponge-at this rate that is a fraction of what I would pay for the pill.
And I am pretty excited-I cleaned the bathroom closet this am and found another one!!!!

OOh, I may have to try them. Hate hormonal BC and looking for a better alternative to condoms or total NFP (which, in my case, is more like "do it and pray" LOL!)

For anyone who hasn't used them before, don't buy too many in one shot. Once we moved to Canada, I bought some, all excited and hopeful that they would be wonderful, but DH and I both had massive bad reactions to the nonoxenol-9 spermicide. We didn't worry about OTC BC again for 6 or more weeks afterwards...

If you already consider yourself having sensitive skin, be really cautious with these things. Nonoxenol-9's other use is as hospital-grade disinfectant...ouch is all I can say about that.

Yep, I'm definately another one sensitive to nonoxenol-9 so count me out as well. I threw out all my condoms that had it in them.
