My favorite bottles of all time are the Dr. Brown's ones, which I know many people on here like. Unfortunately they are on the "bottles to avoid" list (http://environmentcalifornia.org/envirocaliftoxics.asp?id=716&id4=ES) since they are made of polycarbonate. After some searching, however, I found that they sell non-polycarbonate Dr. Brown's bottles in the U.K.-- they're called Baby B.Free bottles and are made out of a brownish plastic (polyethersulfone). Here's the original website for the Baby B.Free bottles:

http://www.babybfree.com/index.asp

And here's a website that sells them and will ship to the U.S. (they come out to around $28 shipped for a 2-pack of 8oz bottles)

http://www.edirectory.co.uk/pf/pages/moreinfoa.asp?pe=CDJIBFHQ_+b+free+twin+pack+bottle +twin+pack&cid=880

I've recommended the Dr. Brown's bottles to a friend of mine who is TTC, but now I think I will show her these. They have a heat sensor on them too, unlike the regular polycarbonate Dr. Brown's :).

Thank you!!! We used Dr. Brown's with Logan, but recently switched to Playtex Nursers since the liners were on a "safe" list. His reflux seems to have calmed down enough now that the Dr. B's aren't as necessary as they were before. I will definitely remember these for #3!

I knew about this polycarbonate crap cause the regular bottles that are sold here are NOT APPROVED in Europe. Luckily I have my IL's and my mom bringing me plenty of b free bottles from Europe. I'm not sure if there is any website you can buy from directly.

I e-mailed Handi-Craft and called them and left them an voice mail today regarding my concerns. We will se what they tell me.

In the meantime, the website that does ship the bottle to the U.S. also does bulk sales. I was wondering if we should start a co-op to cut down some of the costs??

Any suggestions?

I spoke to Handi-Craft in 2003 about this same issue and they were no help. Told me to find them in UK or Europe on my own! Needless to say, we did not use Dr. Brown's.
