I know it is corny, but I have been having so much fun decorating for the baby shower I am hosting soon. I've harvested fallen limbs from the backyard and sprayed them with gold glitter, then tied wired ribbon bows to the branches to make an arrangement. Have cut out and elaborately decorated onesies, dresses, overalls and tees to hang from clothesline around the house. Decorated styrofoam balls with glitter and sequins to spruce up a chandelier. Also am taking frames that I have and putting pretty paper in them with words like mama, little, etc.

If anyone has any more ideas, no matter how kitschy I would love to know. Thanks for reading, my husband just does not get excited about this stuff- (his only comment "be sure she (new mother) does not think those frames are for her". Ughh, men.

I hosted a shower a few months ago for DSIL and it turned out very cute...

Not sure of your food plans but we did tea sandwiches cut out with a heart-shaped cookie cutter, baby quiche, lots of other stuff but that was easy.

For punch I found a yummy recipe I no longer have that was raspberry lemonade, raspberry sherbet, non alcoholic sparkling grape juice, grenadine, and maybe orange juice? In any case it was pink and very yummy ;)

Our decorations were mostly silver vases filled w/ pink roses (she knew she was having a girl) all over the place.

Oh, I made the favors...used those pink candy melts you can buy at Michaels, etc. and poured them into baby oriented molds...little prams, booties, rattles, etc. I put them into those little chiffon drawstring bags for our guests.

Just a few ideas. Nothing extraordinary by any means. Your ideas sound wonderful :)

Beth, can you make those candies way ahead of time?

Very cute! Everything looks darling. Perhaps you could get some baby photos of the mom and dad as well? Photocopy them or scan them and make them sepia or black & white, frame them, put them by the hors d'oeuvres.

I'd make a really wonderful punch, with an ice ring with edible flowers frozen into it.

Let's see. Instead of napkin rings, for my friend's shower I used safety diaper pins (the "old" kind with a little animal where it closes).

Mainly, I've relied on several dozen roses from Costco, purchased the night before the shower (so they have time to open up).

What will your seating arrangement look like? Are you serving a full meal?

I scheduled it for 2 pm so as to not have a full meal. Entertaining is not my strong suit so I am going to keep it simple. Love the idea of the edible flowers, thank you!! My husband owns a tent and party rental business so we may have a tent or umbrella tables in the yard for seating, September may be too hot here to have it outside.

Wow, great job! I love your creations. The only idea that I have to add, is that you could put a couple pair of real socks, or something else small on your clothes line. It would be a cute touch, but I do love it as is.

Great job! I don't have great ideas for you, but I just wanted to tell you how cute everything you have done already is. The clothesline is especially adorable. Your friend is very lucky to have someone putting so much time and creativity into her shower. :)

I believe I made them a few days in advance and I am pretty sure I refrigerated them. NOt positive if I did or not though.

IN any case, your decorations are positively adorable. I wish I was coming to the shower :)

Oh, and we did the edible flower bit too...sprinkled them around the sandwiches/food, etc.

Some nice gourmet cheeses and crackers are a nice and easy addition if you are looking for easily prepped stuff. I usually arrange them on a big huge old wooden breadboard thingie we have with some grapes, etc. around them.
