So, I'm feeling huge in a typical 9 week post-partum way and pretty much tired of all of my in-between clothes and depressed about the fact that my pre-pregnancy clothes won't fit forever (I was the smallest I've been since I was 15 b/c I had spent the year prior to getting pregnant training for an endurance race and it's going to take forever to get back there), so I'm looking for something cute and casual to wear that I could wear throughout the next 7-8 months while I try to lose weight. I live in Florida and I missed most of the good end of summer sales and now we have all of the Fall/Winter stuff in our stores which no one here ever wears anyways. I've got all the standard linen pants, drawstring stuff, etc., but my latest obsession is to find a shorter (knee length), peasant skirt-type skirt to wear with t-shirts and tank tops. I see all of the teenagers around here wearing them and I'm sure I missed them in stores. I actually got something for my DD from Ann Taylor Loft that I think is basically what I want (not the first time I've been in search of a grown-up version of my DD's clothes), but I need to find it in a ladies L or XL. I'd like it to have elastic (so I can wear it as I hopefully lose weight). Any ideas of where to look?

eBay. Seriously. I got a great Gap skirt to wear to my niece's Christening off eBay -- tags still attached, for $15 including shipping. You can really find some super deals if you look, and you can also find things that the retail stores now consider "out of season" and aren't currently selling. Also, since these aren't clothes you will be wearing forever, it will be nice to save some cash!

What about this...

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_4/602-5471760-5823033?%5Fencoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0007XHN8M

Not exactly what you're looking for in that it hits probably right below the knee. I was just at Target yesterday and they had some other pretty dip-dyed peasant skirts on sale. I think they were Mossimo. Also, have you tried Kohl's? Their Daisy Fuentes line had some peasants skirts for summer. They might have some on clearance.

Good luck!

ETA: Here's another one that hits above the knee. And it's cordoroy which would be great for fall...

I would try stores like Express or NY & Co maybe even Old Navy.

Abercrombie & Fitch sells a similar skirt in the stores. There is a version that is cheaper in the stores right now, but they only have this more expensive one online:

Only in brown for both skirts, though.

I say check out Froogle:

http://froogle.google.com/froogle?num=100&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&tab=wf&cat=99&q=peasant+skirt+knee

In the description, Froogle gives you a list of merchants who sell the skirt, so you can at least go to the store if you prefer not to buy clothes online.

ETA: Another option could be to shop at outlet stores. Not sure, but it's possible that outlets may transition to the next season slightly later since they're getting rid of overstock.

HTH! :)

Try Target or Anthropologie. Target has really cute stuff like that, seriously, and Anthropologie is just a great store. www.anthropologie.com

I got some skirts like you are describing at Target, not to save $, but because they were just cute.

This is a good year for looking for inbetween stuff because the styles are more accomodating, good luck!

Just wanted to say that ITA about Target. I have a couple of prarie skirts from there and they are so cute and comfy. They have held up well also. Perfect for a PP purchase, but the fit is stretchy and flexible enough that you may be able to wear for a long time even after you lose those new mama pounds.
