So yesterday at Joann's I felt compelled to buy some pink fleece because I thought it would make a cute poncho for Anna. Has anyone ever done this? I just want it simple-but don't want it to look like I am a second grader in a sewing class-KWIM?

fleece is super easy and you really don't even have to sew it (the edges don't ravel. If you'd like to you can hem it just to make it look neat and for a girl the neck treatments are endless (you can leave the V neck cut or you can add a hood to the poncho).

I actually made a poncho for my son last fall that was a bit more involved. I made the collar a standup zip-up collar so it looked a bit more manly and it made using it so easy. Plus since it's a poncho I think it'll even fit him this year.

Here's a link to his picture last year wearing it. The collar is like one of those old navy half-zip fleece pullovers.
