. . . has anyone found a cute yet comfortable black slip-on shoe for fall yet? My perfect shoe would be black, stylish, but very very comfortable.

Is it out there? I was at Nordstrom last week and wasn't sure I saw anything. I don't want something super high, but the super flat ones would be strange to walk in too.

I ordered some shearling clogs from zappos for the super cold weather--they aren't great--they're a little too short. I may have to get Uggs (I was trying hard not too--seems everyone has them).

I like Lands End for shoes, though they have limited styles in my wide size. There are some black leather mules in overstocks right now for $19.50 - they are comfy, and the leather is VERY soft! There are also some slip ons made of the same leather in overstocks.

Thanks! I was thinking of a placing a Land End order for some kids' stuff anyway, so I could certainly try a pair at the same time. I'll check them out. : )

I am seriously loving Danskos. They are super comfy and stylish. Here are some examples. I am totally wanting the last 2.

I bought these at Zappos last week. Magdesians are super comfy and they come in a huge range of sizes. I have three or four pairs of their shoes.

Black slip ons, 1 1/2" heel, padded footbed, very comfortable. Currently on sale! But if anyone out there has never tried Zappos before, BE CAREFUL when you click on this link. You may fall hopelessly into a shoe addiction, like me.

These Danskos are cute too--but so expensive!

I'm sure you can still find a similar style that I got last year by Ecco. THey're not TERRIBLE expensive, but they're costly. But they're worth it. They are simple black slip on leather. Don't have a pic, but I know they had some at Von Maur (a dept store round here) the last time I looked. They're more casual than dressy though, OK for business casual but not for business dress.

Thanks for the warning Katie, I had my mouse hovering over the link when I finished reading your post...LOL. DH has learned to just nod and walk away when I'm looking at shoes. It's probably best I avoid that link.

Go with Dansko. I bought one pair of Dansko clogs for residency and still wear them with jeans (that's SIX years later). I would be in those darn shoes for 40 hours straight every three nights and my feet wouldn't be ecstatic or anything, but I'd still be able to stand. I'm a Dansko devotee. If you divide the cost ($100) over the nine years I've had them they're almost like thrift store priced!

I like the traditional dansko clogs with the backs in black, even the shiny black is very cool. I wear them with jeans all the time, and they can look really fashionable with the right jeans and shirt - they are comfortable and they give you some hight.

Depends on what you consider "stylish" I guess. My too favorite pairs from last year were: fall/winter: Dansko Maryjanes. Spring/Summer: Indigo (by Clarks) slip-on shoes with flowers on the toe.

Hmmm... I can't find my fave Dansko Maryjanes anywhere. (The newer version I found too shallow.)
The Indigos I love are:

Oh, man, I LOVE those! And they come in wide sizes!!

Not like I need to place a THIRD Zappos order in 24 hours!

I just got these at Sierra Trading Post for $28 (during their recent 30% off sale)

So far very comfy, and with a little breaking in I think they'll be good w/o socks too.

In the past year, I have worn down 2 pairs of shoes- both of average quality from DSW. I see that on Zappos there are some pretty high priced shoes that I LOVE! (Dansko and Birkenstocks). The ones I like are $120+. Are they worth it? Will I get enough use out of them to justify the price (at least 1 and 1/2 years almost every day?) Any thoughts?
I also love those Born MJs from SIerra TRading post. Those are definetly more in my price range.

I have a pair of Birkenstocks from the Footprints collection that I bought in 2001. They are definitely well worn on the soles now, but the uppers are still in really good shape and I still wear them a lot (almost daily) in the fall, winter, and spring.

Personally, I think a well made pair of shoes can be considered an investment for your body. I have a history of lower back pain due to ill fitting and non-supportive shoes, but changing over to better shoes has almost elimated my problems. Surprising I hardly had any back pain and a bit sciatia when I was PG. I really think the shoes make the difference. Now if I can just get a new mattress...

I would do a Google search on the styles you like. Zappos sells my Borns for full price, but Sierra Trading Post had them for super cheap. So you may be able to get both - quality and a great price!

The only nice shoes I could wear for the entire 2nd half of my pg were Dansko mary janes. I LOVE them. They are just so comfy and I'm still wearing them, they still look awesome. They were worth every penny of the over $100 they cost.

The outlet still has them in 3 sizes.

I have had my Birkenstock sandals for years now. They are a bit worn but worth every penny. My Dansko sandals have seen a ton of action and get worn more than any other shoe I own. My feet feel awesome and the sandals are in great shape. I think they are totally worth it but that is just me.

Those are cute! Are they Born's? I like those much better than Danskos.

Marilee! Thank you for posting. Those are my favorite shoes. I think I spent $125 after I had lusted over them for 6 months I finally bought them (during pg too, I think). The newer MJ style, as I mentioned, are too shallow on my feet, so I'm glad to see the old ones can still be found!

Yes, Born Artist Mary Janes. Normally like $80. Sierra Trading Post now has for $31, Nordstrom had a few small sizes for $34 a while ago.
