My BIL saved me today from hours of agony. I lost my keys inside Costco--I looked and asked if anyone had turned them in for TWO HOURS and nothing. I was in tears, with a two year old wanting to go home to sleep and no end in sight. My BIL came from home where he was nursing a sprained foot and brought me my spare house key, took me home to get my spare car keys, then after hanging out at Costco himself for another hour, brought my keys to me when eventually someone turned them in to customer service. Without him I would have had to have my car re-keyed (and the locksmith didn't appear to have even SEEN a Subaru before) and I would have been there for another hour, at least--and DS wouldn't have been able to take his nap until 3:30, if he even would have gotten one. Much less lunch. (I was *this close* to buying some huge food item in bulk just so DS could get something to eat, since on top of everything I had no cash for the snack bar!)

I want to get him something--we don't actually get along all that well, but he really went out of his way this time. What would you do?

Allison,

What about a gift card/certificate to a restaurant that you know your BIL likes?

I am in a similar situation--our nanny was sick today and a friend of mine agreed to watch Ellie for several hours while I taught a class (first real lecture and I couldn't miss it! She is such a goddess!). I am thinking of giving her and her DH a gift certificate to a local restaurant, since I know they love going out to eat!

Today must have been good samaritan day! Thank goodness for us :)!

Wow--that was very nice of him! Sorry you had such a crappy day though.

What about a bottle of his favorite hooch?

What a wonderful BIL! Maybe this will be a turning point in your relationship with him.

Something food-related always sounds good to me! Yum, cookies. Must go find myself something to eat now...

What a good guy!

I have to agree with a food something or other. Most men appreciate food the most. I know my DH does, lol.

Cookies or a G.C. to his favorite restaurant sounds perfect.

How nice of him! I would get him a gift certificate to his favorite store, restaurant or movie theatre.
