What are you seeing?

Glad we sold my Range Rover that took 22+ gallons of Premium!

Yesterday we saw $2.86 here in KS. But luckily, we saw the hike coming a mile away and filled up on the weekend at $2.57.

We even put some in the gas can because DH guaranteed me that prices would be above $3 here by the weekend. I think he's gonna be right! I haven't looked at prices yet today, but I'm sure they are rising!

Makes me glad I am a SAHM who drives mimimally around town and doesn't have a daily trek to and from work!

Same station was $2.79 at 9am Tuesday and $2.99 5pm Tuesday.

I normally do not consider myself lucky, but I did yesterday. On my search for relatively cheap gas yesterday before the hike, I found a place for $2.39, when all other stations had gas for $2.69. I was so relieved when I pulled to the pump and even more relieved b/c a man was in the process of changing gas prices on their sign and was soon going to switch pumps to that price, as well. I made it with just a couple of minutes to spare. Now, I just need to cut down on my SUV driving until gas prices are more stable.

DH just called & told me to fill up my car today - he said the talking heads are calling for a mid-west gas shortage (think waiting in line to fill up!) by sometime next week.

$2.77 at BJs Club in Cary, NC...and that is the discounted gas!!! It cost me $35 to fill the minivan that still about a 1/3 of a tank.

ETA NC...because just putting Cary isn't going to help you. *doh*

If you live in the Cincy area check out:

www.cincygasprices.com

At least you'll have a shot at finding the cheapest stuff in the area. DH and I filled up Monday, and my car's half empty (yes, that's pessimistic) today-- should have filled up again last night, darn it. Then we'd have made it at least through the weekend.

But yes, $3.09 for regular at the cheap places (Speedway), $3.19 at the branded places. YUCK.

ETA: Someone just posted $3.49 on the site. Crud-- the location is right here where I work :(

we also surpassed the $3 mark with $3.05 in Connecticut!!

2.99 for regular in San Francisco area! My 40 minute commute to work is killing me!

I was out this morning and saw one station jump from $2.74 to $2.99 in a matter of two hours. The Speedway stations, which are usually lower priced, are at $3.31.

I filled up yesterday, but have done close to 100 miles of driving since then, so I'm going to go fill up again once ds wakes up. Why I didn't stop this morning and do that is beyond me, but we were running late.... *sigh*

We took DD to preschool yesterday and gas was at $2.57 on the way there. I ran a few errands then pulled our Expedition (ugh!) into our local Mobil and balked at $2.79 and figured I'd stop at the $2.57 when preschool was over.

The same $2.57 gas station was now $2.99. In less than 2.5 hours the price had risen 42 cents! Listening to the radio while DH went to go get our daughter they were calling out locations where it was still $2.79. Needless to say we hi-tailed it back to Mobil to pay $2.79!

This morning everywhere I see is $2.99. Who knows what it will be on the way home today (southeast MI).

However, I continue to remind myself how fortunate I am to be able to fill up on gas, that we currently don't have to wait in horrendous lines, that I have my home, I have my family, and that my only hardship (besides emotional) is currently an additional $8 or so to fill up our gas tank.

Where are you in SE MI? We're to the west, in downtown Plymouth. DH said we can count on the horrendous lines in metro Detroit sometime next week.

I can't imagine going through the cleanup, mourning, and loss from the storms, and will have to remind myself not to complain about the snow when it comes this winter.

I'm in San Diego, CA and last night at midnight (I know, I'm a night owl :)) I got gas for $2.75 a gallon, which is actually a great price in CA right now. I have no idea if it's been raised this morning though. It's times like these that I love having a super tiny car. Even with gas prices almost reaching $3 a gallon, it still costs me less than $20 to fill up!!!!

I paid $3.19 today for premium in MD. It cost me $43 to fill up my Passat, which normally costs @$30.00. DH was lucky enough to fill up last night, and he said it was $3.01 for premium - what a big one day increase!

I was out last night, and saw gas at $2.79. The meeting had run long, and I was tired, so I decided to wait until today to get gas. Bad call - same station was $3.19 today. No choice but to get it - although it confirmed my decision to stay in town this weekend, rather than drive 2.5 hours each way to pick something up at an Ikea. (The gas cost would eat up what I was planning to save by buying Abby a table at Ikea...)

Baltimore--$2.62-$2.79 for regular and up to $2.99 for premium.

ETA: Premium is now $3.19, regular up to $2.99. I was able to get some $2.81 to fill up the rental car, though. I hope I can still get something below $3 when I get our own car back!

Making it $3.29 for my Subaru Forester with the stupid turbo that needs premium. It is now costing me around $7.00 a day to go to a neighboring city and back for school. Ugh.

Do they make a smaller car than a Corolla? ;)

My Kia Sedona gets a whopping 13-15 mpg. It's costing me almost $50 bucks to fill up! Gas went from $2.54 at noon to $2.79 at 4 pm.

DH said 4 gas stations were OUT OF GAS on his way home. This is in Central Florida.

Wonder if I can fit a Marathon in a Prius? ;)

We live in southern Maine. The average is $3 or more already and the news is saying that $4/gallon is on the horizon. I got lucky though, our local Sam's Club has stayed at $2.62, a steal, so I filled up. It was fairly busy but not crazy. I think it will be once the word gets out. I'm afraid for the winter as we have oil heat. We have two floors to heat so we go through oil pretty quickly. Fortunately, we don't have an infant to worry about so I think we'll all be wearing double layers to bed this winter! :)

As another poster said, paying extra for fuel is NOTHING compared to what the people of New Orleans and all the areas effected by Katrina. It absolutely breaks my heart and I feel awful that I can do nothing to help but pray. This article really was hard to read...

Two places were as high as $3.29!!! Insane because at the Walmart and BJ's stations it was $2.69. I feel badly for the elderly who live in the neighborhood where the $$$ gas is-they probably don't think to drive cross town.
On NPR this am it was suggested that the oil comp[anies start subsidizing gas prices since their profits last year were up 35% what was expected (Exxon/Mobil). I think what they do is a crime!

Yes! :) We are very glad DH bought the Prius recently and we are also commuting to work together now that I have a new job. We are probably the only people in the country spending much less this month on gas than last month!

I filled up at $2.52 yesterday. I have no idea what the price is at today but I imagine close to $3 too. :(

ETA: DH filled up this morning at $2.89. He said a few gas stations were totally shut down and out of gas. We are now rethinking our road trip to the IL's this weekend out of fear we won't be able to find gas to fill up on the way home!!

What these oil companies do is criminal! It's a friggin cash cow for them and the government hasn't done anything to limit the enormous profit margin these companies are reaping. And I know around here gas is rising solely out of fear. Gas prices are supposed to be lowering now that travel season is coming to the end with Labor Day around the corner.

DH and I were just canceled our vacation to Northern Vermont this fall (I cried over that one) because it would cost almost $400 in fuel to make the 1,500 mile round trip....and that's if prices stay at or below $3.20/gal.

We just filled up two 5-gallon gas tanks that we use for our lawn mower....but I'm thinking if there's a shortage (like they project here on the east coast), we might use them to gas up the car. It was $2.53/gal a day ago, $2.78 this morning and $3.05 by tonight. I'm sick over it. No more miscellaneous trips for me. We haven't used our SUV in weeks...and it's going to stay that way. We're also walking to the local grocery stores for daily needs and riding my bike to the library.

You can definitely get a MA into a Prius. My DH's family has really long legs and we only have the one kiddo; the MA fits fine in the middle of the backseat. We could potentially put two in back if people with my normal legs were to sit in the front seats. :)

Back to the subject... in San Diego, our cheapest nearby gas station was $2.89 at 1:30 and $2.95 2 hours later.

I paid $2.79 for regular around 1PM this afternoon. Around 7 PM, I drove by the same gas station, and it was up to $3.49 for regular! Outrageous!

I cannot believe this. How much of this do you think is due to internet rumor mongering?

Hey Barbara, just curious-where is the Walmart gas station? Is this the one in Scarborough?(if so,I didn't even know it was there!) I got gas for $2.62 at Sam's and across the street the Clippermart(close to Walmart)had risen to $3.19 over the course of a few hours! It absolutely is sickening to think of these oil execs. sitting at home celebrating(you know they are)when all of this tragedy is taking place. Ugh.

Hiya Neighbor,

We're in Northville. The 2.57 to 2.99 gas station was the Speedway at 10 Mile and Novi Road. The 2.79 gas station I hi-tailed it back to was the Mobil station at 8 Mile and Taft. It was $3.15 on the way home last night at the Speedway (5 Mile and Sheldon) and Mobil (8 Mile and Taft).

It will be interesting if I still see the same surge of traffic going up US23 tomorrow (Friday) afternoon heading up north for the holiday weekend or if it will be diminshed any due to the increase in gasoline prices.

This morning, regular was 2.89 - 3.35. The Gas City stations were the ones gouging (only ones over $3 at 3.35) in our SW Chicago suburb.

Marcy_O

Usually we have pretty low prices in comparison, but some places in Cedar Rapids went from 2.59/gal to 2.99/gal yesterday for regular ethanol fuel. I believe that falls under goudging. According to my DH, gas stations can only raise prices up to 15 cents per day.

I filled up day before yesterday at $2.49 (1/2 tank) then I was down 1/4 tank yesterday so I filled up in Mechanicsville (which is usually higher than Cedar Rapids because CR competes with WalMart) at 2.69. Everywhere else was averaging around 2.89 for ethanol. Prices were really irratic yesterday around here.

I can't believe what some stations are doing. I am staying home today but I'm stuck here in the middle of nowhere and it's at least a 20 minute highway trek to get anywhere, and Godforbid, a 35 minute trek to Starbucks...LOL.

Got a new car, now I can't drive it :(

ETA: Go to http://gaswatch.energy.gov/ to report incidents of a fifteen cent increase in less than 24 hours.

Premium was $2.99. Most of the other service stations I saw today were between $3.19 and $3.29 for regular. Not having that "extra clean" smog-preventing gas makes it a bit cheaper.
