Unfortunately, we have less than a quarter tank left, but I can't fill up because our car is in the shop! I hope that by the time we get it back we can still get gas for $3 regular! But now it sounds like I have to worry about being able to get gas at all!

Eileen, you should go to walmart or Target and get a 5-gallon red ventless gas can (plastic) and get yourself some gas. Maybe a neighbor could take you. I know it seems silly, but I think we're in for rough times.

It is so crazy near us (also in NC)as the gas station down the street has raised the price of gas almost 50 cents today alone (to 2.99) and during our walk this evening there were some major lines there. It'll be interesting, to say the least, to see how this goes over the next few days.

DH went out at around 3pm today, and any station with gas under $3/gallon was sold out. All the others had ridiculous lines and prices pushing $3.50/gallon. Somehow he topped off at $2.99/gal.

Fortunately I don't have to drive much so can conserve my almost-full tank, but DH has 100mi round trip to work (and firefighters can't work from home) every third day! I wonder if his employer would fill their tanks if needed to get them into work?? The city has to keep enough gas on hand - what happens if fire trucks and ambulances run out of gas??
