I found out last week that little brother is posterior (aka sunny-side up), so I've been doing some exercies the M/W's suggested to get him to turn around. I talked to my doula today, and she told me about this site: http://www.spinningbabies.com. It seems pretty cool, so thought I'd share.

Enjoy!

You could also go see a chiropractor. I had great success turning little miss around that way. You need someone trained in the webster technique.

I've also heard of success in turning babies with accupuncture!

It is a cool site, isn't it? I had no sign that DS was posterior, but I got myself worked up toward the end of my pg'cy because I was having a LOT of contractions, and they were in my back. This went on for 3-4 weeks before he was born. They stopped about a week before I actually went into "real" labor with him. I did a lot of the recommended activities/exercises and my labor contractions were NOTHING like those I experienced in the weeks beforehand.

I used hypnobirthing and had an easy and unmedicated labor. I"m not sure if the "spinning babies" stuff got DS into a better position or if it was sheer luck (he may not have even been posterior to begin with) but all I know is my actual labor with him was very easy due to hypnobirthing and possibly because he was in a better position :)

I hope it works for you and your little one!!! I did a lot of floor scrubbing :)

Yes. That's a great site! I found it last year while researching why DD refused to come without intervention. It's amazingly educating as most women don't even give optimal fetal positioning a second thought. I'm doing some things differently this pg due to information derived from that site.

Hope your little one turns!

Good luck, spinning! Although if all else fails, it is possible to have a posterior little one and avoid back labor. Just fingers crossed that he's small!

Good luck, Amy! My first ds was posterior and as a result, I ended up breaking my tailbone after 3 hours of pushing and eventually having a c-section. No happy memories with that delivery. :( I wish I'd known this stuff at the time.

you broke your tailbone?! cripes! i thought the most i had to worry about was a 3rd degree tear or something along those lines - not broken bones! i am so sorry to hear about that - i bet that sucked the big one!

Don't panic! Just be sure you're not pushing on your back. If you push on hands and knees or in an upright position, you're much, much less likely to hurt yourself during the birth. Also, don't let anybody make you do the thing where they count to ten and you hold your breath and push. That's been documented repeatedly to result in birth injuries to the mother-- it's just not safe. If you push only when your body says to, you'll probably be just fine.

The other thing to try is homeopathic pulsatilla. That's what finally worked to turn Abigail more than 36 hours into my labor. It's also what got me interested in homeopathy. It worked within five minutes of my first dose.
