ETA: apparently they are no longer covering ER, sorry.

Brief recap: the newly promoted second years (Shane, Neela, Abby) are having trouble keeping up, and the new interns are hopeless. Abby makes one of them cry. Sam and Luca travel all over the midwest and finally to Colorodo, where they eventually track down the hitchhiking Alex, who has been taken to the hopsital after getting sick because of not taking his insulin. Looks like Luca and Sam are going to break up, because he wants a baby and she doesn't. Too bad, because that would be a good looking baby. Sam finally tells Alex the truth about his dad, and they go see Alex's father in prison. The producers make a snide jab at extended breastfeeding by protraying a mom nursing a six-year-old, and everyone talks about how freakish that is. Not much character development overall.

Unfortunately, the character is much more intellectually attractive than the actor. I've seen interviews with him and it was really disappointing. Maybe if he just keeps his mouth shut...
