I'm due mid-October so my baby annoucements probably wouldn't be sent out until the end of Nov. b/c I want to have a pic. of our DC in the annoucement. Would it be tacky if I combined the baby annoucement and Christmas card into one? Maybe have her in a cute little Christmas dress with something like "Baby's First Christmas" in a Christmas theme lined pic holder and then have velum paper attached with Christmas ribbon with her birth stats? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Angie

We did this for our DS, whose bday is 10/29. The card said something like, "Our Christmas gift came early this year..." on the front with a pic of DS in a Santa outfit. His stats were on the inside and at the bottom, it said, "Happy holidays from our family to yours." It's hard to explain, but the front cover pic and the inside text were printed on a single sheet of vellum that slipped into slits in the card. If I remember where I ordered them (online), I'll come back and add the link. We liked them very much. We also enclosed a non-holidayish 4 by 6 pic of DS with a border that said "It's a boy!" (ordered from Ofoto) and I put a label on the back with his name and stats.

Since I did this, I don't think it's tacky. :) It was easier than trying to get out announcements and holiday cards with a newborn in the house.

Good luck!

ITA with Jerilyn. Not tacky, practical.
I doubt anyone would hold it against you for combining the two since you have a newborn in the house.
Personally, I'd think you were one smart mama!

I think it's a great idea. I've seen one IRL that said, "No more silent nights." I thought it was clever!

A friend from my childbirth prep class did something like that and it was adorable. :)

Not tacky at all...

We used a photo of DD sleeping on the front with the caption inside "sleep in heavenly peace." You could do the birth stats across the bottom of the inside with the relevant birth info in smaller type or a different color.

Or, this one is cute - a photo of baby's feet on the cover (you could place a sprig of holly or other Christmas decoration next to the feet) with a caption inside "Our family has grown by two feet"

I did this when DD and DS were born just before Thanksgiving (one in 2002, other in 2004).

In 2002 I made cards myself and drove myself crazy to get them out in time while caring for a newborn as a first time mom. Yikes.

In 2004 I found http://www.naptimecards.com/ and sent them a pic of my 2 kids with a Biblical quote I found "Every good and perfect gift comes from above (James 1:17)." But I love the "no more silent nights." Inside I had the birth info and "Merry Christmas from our family to yours." I chose a red swirly border to make it feel more holiday-y. All I did was assemble the cards myself. They even sent me the envelopes early.

I received compliments on both cards but saved a lot of stress by having the cards done for me the second time around. They weren't so expensive either so it was worth it to me.

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival, also!

We did this and it saved so much headache. I uploaded a pic to our digital pic place, set the pic on a holiday theme and write a combo birth announcement/"we've been extra blessed this year" thing. The only pain was addressing everything. Cards went out early last year even.
