A couple of weeks ago, I posted here asking about ponchos for women and whether or not they were passe (add accent over e). :) I think a couple of folks mentioned that there were variations on the poncho that are more current. I was meeting with a woman on Friday morning and I wanted her sweater! We spoke this afternoon and I asked her about it. It was from the Gap last year and she loves it. It was black, tight knit, and has sleeves like a cardigan, but two long "tails" in the front that the wearer can wrap around in different ways. She wore a white button-down shirt underneath and black pants and it was really cute-- not shapeless, but could definitely grow with a pregnant belly. Of course, now I want to find one, but it was at the Gap last year. :( I'm searching online a bit and have found a couple of things that I think are similar, but I thought some of you fashionistas or savvy web-surfers might be able to help me find something like it. I prefer black or maybe even dark brown, but I'd look at anything.

I found this one on the Sears website of all places. It's the right concept, but I don't love the color and I would prefer a natural fiber if possible. Click on photo gallery to see other views:

Target had a bunch advertised this week! I'm going there one night this week to check them out; i'm always chilly and tend to wear a sweatshirt (zipper) both at work and out and about. I think a sweater like i saw in the Target ad might do the trick!

I asked for that Gap sweater (in light pink) for Mothers' Day sight unseen and I was disappointed (poor DH, he finally got me something I asked for and I didn't like it). When I tied it in front, it just looked like a big blob. That doesn't mean it won't look good on you! Do you have a Gap outlet nearby you could check? Otherwise, I would check Ebay. I have also seen some similar things in the stores, though not sure exactly where.

Oh, that's too bad! The girl I saw wearing it did not have it tied, just wrapped in front sort of like a pashmina. It looked cute on her that way, but I don't know if I would like it tied in front. (Definitely not on me!) There's a Gap outlet near my mom and she is going to exchange some pants she bought in the wrong size for DS, so I'll ask her to be on the lookout.

I'm afraid I may end up feeling the same way you did-- looks good elsewhere, but not on me. Oh well.

Darnit! I was there last night, but only looked at the maternity stuff and breezed through the toddler boys section. Will have to head back later this week! Thanks for the tip!

I have a Gap sweater that wraps, and it is great! I wore it when I was 8+ months pregnant and it fit wonderfully (or at least I thought it looked stylish, but when you are 8+ months pregnant, your idea of stylish is very different from most people). It was grey wool, and I tied it, but didn't loop the tie all the way around as much as usual. That having been said, I tried on a a different wrap (that was made for maternity - Old Navy, I think), and it looked horrible! I would not buy it sight unseen if possible. Definitely try it on or make sure the return policy is good.

ETA: I can not see your link, but here is a cool looking sweater:

Here is a similar idea, but natural fibres:

Thank you! That Cousin Johnny wrap cardigan looks like the Gap one I saw and it is a reasonable price. I'd prefer the fabric of the Barrie Pace one, bet the Cousin Johnny sweater is about one third the price!

ETA: The Nordstrom one looks good too! Yippeee! :)

My birthday was on Saturday and I think one of these will be a belated gift to myself. :)

I have a cardie wrap, and I really like it. I looked all over, and I was really pleased with it....

It's aqua, and I wear it over a brown camisole. It's actually one of my favorite outfits right now, though I don't see it in the color on this link, but I got it from here:

http://store.nordstrom.com/product/product.asp?styleid=2866134&cm_ven=bizrate&cm_cat=datafeed&cm_pla=scarves%2fwraps%2fponchos:women:wraps&cm_ite=collection_xiix_cardi-wrap:156556&dt=10-10-05

JCPenney has really nice cardies, too, and in great fall colors.

Nice! Glad you like yours. That gives me hope. I came across this Nordstrom one when I followed a link from a PP and I thought it looked quite good. :)
