From the other thread I get the general idea that most people have housecleaners come every other week and the work they do seem similar. I know it probably varies depending on where you live and the size of your house, but how much do you pay for your help? Thanks!

I am almost afraid to post, for fear I am overpaying:
I have a 3/2 house, they come every other week for two people/four hours, and I pay $75. They work their butts off.

Cheaper than couples therapy, so it is a bargain in my view!

At least they worked for 4 hours. We were paying $70 for 2 people who cleaned for less than 1 hr every other week. We were definitely overpaying.

The going rate around here seems to be $20/hour. This is for an individual, not a service. I found it to be quite a bargain, she was usually finished in 2 hours or sometimes 3..so we were usually paying around $50 every other week. The services wanted a LOT more money (because they would send 2 or 3 cleaners).

We are about to start this again, last time around we hired someone when I was in my 9th month and kept her for a year, and I am about at the point again where I just can't do it. It is totally worth the money, heck I would even pay more, LOL!

$70 for 2 people, every week. They're here about 1 1/2 hrs. If they came every other week, I think it would be more like $75-80. BTW I do not live in a major metropolitan area.

$60 for one person, coming every week. I have a three bedroom townhouse.

$18/hour, for 3 hours every other week for one person. We usually tip $10, more if she stays late (which she often does).

I don't think most people in Chicago tip, but she is really nice to Charlie so we do.

I have a 1500 sft (3/2) house, all one level. A mom and two teenage daughters come in to clean up. They spend close to 2 hrs and really clean well, even the refrigerator.
We pay them 65$, once every two weeks.

We pay $90/week for 1 person who stays between 5 and 6 hours. We have a 2 story house with 4 bedrooms (roughly 2900 square feet, maybe?).

1 cleaner; $60. She came for a while last time (it was her first time here). We have a 4/2.5 house; 2300-2400 sq feet.

(She quoted $70, but I negotiated quite easily to $60.

I am in Canada, so the currency is different, but I pay $70 every 2 weeks. 1 cleaning lady, 3-4 hours, 1500 sq ft., 3 bedroom 1.5-2.5 (depending on whether I need my basement bathroom cleaned) bathroom.

2400 sq ft 3/3 one lady for 4 hours is $60. So about $15 an hour.

Our house is 3700 SF and costs us $90 every other week. It is typically 2 or 3 ladies who come and it takes them approximately 3 hours.

Btw, we got a quote from a cleaning service and they wanted $160 each time. Yikes!

3/2 townhouse and we pay $55 every two weeks. I found a wonderful retired couple who clean houses for a little extra money. They actually started out charging $65 but have gone down to $55 because they said my house is easy to clean! (I think that is because we don't have much stuff and no pets.) The basement is all tile, the main floor is all hardwood and the upstairs is all carpet. It takes them a little over an hour to clean the whole house.

2 women, ~2400 sqf (and a finished basement). $110 every 2 weeks. The services that we used (and fired) were priced similarly.

Based on conversations with friendsm there are some folks out there who are less expensive ($50-60/2 weeks, one person), but I'm not in the mood to go looking again.

2 bedroom 1 bath 1,500 sq ft apartment 3-4 hours every other week $60, but I think I'm going to raise it to $65 or $70 since I haven't raised it in 3 years. They only wash sheets and towels, no putting our clothes away or doing our laundry.

1 woman, every other week, $60 for about 4 hours each time. We have a 3BR, 2 1/2 BA house with 2 dogs (and a baby, of course). She's worth every penny and likely saved my sanity and my marriage. :)

It takes her four hours to clean and comes every other week.

$85 every two weeks for a 4/3.5 house. Either 2 or 3 women come each time so the amount of time really varies. I used to pay $100 a time for one woman who did a terrible job so this seems like a bargain.

I am so getting ripped off - I think this is the push I need to look for a new cleaning lady(ies).

I pay $100 every other week. We have a small house 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. I don't have her do the finished basement and bathroom down there because she wanted an extra $25 to do that as well. She comes with two other ladies and I am not sure how long they are here. BTW, they do an OK job, not great. Don't move furniture, no laundry or beds.

I am so glad you all posted this because I think you have just saved us money!!!

Around here, I have a bargain. I pay $50 every other week for a 2 bd/1 ba house of about 1400 sq. ft. It is 2 people for about 2 hours. They strip and change the sheets (but don't wash them), clean the refrigerator, do windows, etc., plus they bring their own supplies and are bonded (I was starting to get worried that I would have to pay taxes for my other cleaner who wasn't as good, didn't bring her own supplies, and cost $15 more). Almost everyone else I know pays about $75 for a bit bigger house.

We pay $120 every other week for two women who are here 2.5 -3 hours. They work hard while they're here - 2600 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths. They do the sheets (change beds and laundry) and will fold other laundry that's in the dryer. We usually ask them to rotate doing the living room or finished basement - little activity in either area most of the time. They'll do "projects" as needed - really clean the refrigerator, clean the refrigerator in the garage, etc.

We pay $60 a week for a 3000 sq.ft. house. I'm elated at that price as the previous services I've used charged over twice that amount. Before Drew was born, I did downstairs only and it was $90. This is a small privately owned service and they are bonded. My DH insisted on that, but I don't really think it is that necessary. So, I'm thrilled to get my whole house cleaned for this amount.
