View Full Version : The "where are they" MIA members thread!

I've been thinking of a few people wondering where they are. Thought I'd start one thread and you can add who you've been thinking about too!

I'm thinking of
Holli (holliam)
Jill (jbowman)
and there were others, but it's late and I feel like crap. Maybe I'll remember after some sleep.

I've always wondered what happened to Tammy (etwahl). Her daughter is a few days older than my DS and she used to post a lot!

What about Julie? (jubilee)

I'll state the obvious, although I know "where" she is and why she isn't hanging out here:

Beth (egoldber). I got together w/ another BBBer today and we were talking about slings. I never would have tried a Hotsling if it weren't for Beth's review of it. That is true of so many things. I miss her presence on the boards.

Also:

Deb (deborah_r, I think)
Linda (LIYA)
Stacey (Stacey_Kim)
Dori (mimidee)

Hi Deb,

You are so nice to think of me!!! :) I haven't gone anywhere, I've just been lurking a lot and not posting as much as usual. This semester has been *krazy* and we've had a lot of visitors!

We're all doing well--I wish my nausea would go away for good and that I hadn't already gained so much weight with this pregnancy (one explanation for that, sadly: Cheetos), but the baby is thriving (I mean, I'm sure she's bright, electric orange, but she's thriving)! Ellie is talking a lot and loves going on walks and collecting rocks. She also loves eating apples "big girl style," LOL!

We're about to have 2 year olds in just a couple of months, I can hardly believe it, Deb! Wasn't December 2003 just a few weeks ago?

And if you read this, Lana, e-mail me--I think I lost yours and I was wondering if you're coming our way at the holidays! :)

Yes, I also miss Beth a lot! And although Linda (LIYA) has checked in from time to time, I think the last time was quite a few months ago.

I haven't talked to Stacey lately, but I met her IRL almost 2 years ago and she's really nice. sHe moved up to the burbs (we're in the city) so I don't see her (we always talk about getting together but never have!!!)

I know she was upset by a few threads in the lounge a while back and as a result hasn't been around as much. A few people kind of ganged up on her and I think she just felt like she didn't need to come to the lounge if people were going to be rude...can't say I blame her.

I often wonder about some of the folks from "way back when" - my first year or so on the boards: etwahl, jojo2324, nigele, ETC....... I miss them! But I'm glad I still get the pleasure of checking out "mama2be" and sntm's posts! Shannon, I remember when you were the "not-even-pregnant-yet-overachiever"! Look at you now! :)

Oh, Deb, you're so sweet!

I've just been really, really busy. Mari is 13 months now and keeping us on our toes! She talks up a storm, is walking but still prefers crawling. My dad has been quite ill, I've changed jobs, had some surgery myself, been shopping for Mari's birthday, Christmas, etc. So, things have just been very busy! I try and lurk occasionally!

Here are some recent pics from the pumpkin patch!

Has anyone "seen" Splash? She was a regular on the carseat board and broke my heart with her story of her foster kids being taken away from her and her DP. She posted breifly after her partner delivered a baby boy. Splash, if your lurking I hope your family is doing well!
Give us an upadate on the baby (what last name did you decide)? )
Take care!

I'm here.

I try to post at least once every couple days; I do read more than I post. Besides having gone back to work (4 days per week), I also find with a toddler who is very computer-fascinated that I cannot go near the computer when he is around, or I have just signed up for 30 minutes of Thomas, Dora or Blue games on the computer!

I try to keep up, but I also find it hard to keep up as the community has grown so much larger. I can't keep track of everyone as easily as I used to!

Again, lots above that I've missed seeing around.

Seeing as I'm in the middle of coat hunting for my nephew right now, I really miss all the old Layette people. :-( I realize they've moved on, but I wish I could see them around other forums. It was an unfortunate (and sad) way to loose so many valuable members.

People like;
urbanmama, khakismom, avasmama, parkersmama, toomanystrollers, stillplayswithbarbies, sugarsnappea, vpalmer, dules and on and on

And all the rest that I now can't remember their screen name! :-(

I was told about this thread by someone that is on this board, so I thought I'd check in for a minute. Hey, Jen, I did email you. Here is a snip of my mail to her-

Nothing spectacular happened to make me stop visiting BBB, at first I had a lot going on. I was working two part time jobs and having some difficulty juggling it all. Then a two weeks later I stopped by BBB and nobody had noticed that I had been gone for a while. Somehow I was kind of hurt by that since I had been on BBB daily for a couple of years. I checked in a few other times but never posted. I guess I just wasn't as connected as I thought I was.

Although I always felt at home on BBB until recently, I'm not having anymore kids unless God blesses me with being able to adopt, so I suppose I have "outgrown" BBB as well.

I am honestly surprised that a few of you remembered me. I wish you all well and hope you raise children to be as wonderful as you all are! God Bless,

Julie

Aw, Julie! I think many of us may have noticed, but not all of us comment on it, KWIM? That, and I think we all know that sometimes life gets busy and *gasp* the BBB may not be someone's first priority at times. ;)

You are DEFINITELY remembered! You've been a big presence on this board for a long, long time. I hope you check in from time to time! We would love to hear from you!

Julie, I have always read your posts with great interest, partly because we share a similar faith and partly because you have so much more experience in parenting than I do and I always learn something new. :) I'm glad you checked in and hope I'll be "seeing" you from time to time, here, as well as in our other group. :)

First off, glad that you're fine. Second, I'm sad that you're sad :-(

I had noticed a bit ago that you weren't around, although I didn't start a thread as I wasn't sure if you were on the other forums that I don't visit.

I do miss you, you've given great advice in the toy forum for sure!

I hope that sometime soon you'll feel like posting again.

I totally agree about the Old Layette people. They were so informative and helpful when it came to brands and sizes - I caught the Naartjie and HA bug thanks to them. The pics of their children in the new clothes were always so helpful and adorable. I felt like I really got to "know" them. Another couple of them that are MIA are meredithsmom and karin4. Occasionally meredithsmom will pop up.

Oh, well. It's very sad how the whole thing came about.

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't been around but I am really touched that people didn't forget about me! After a few controversial posts (one about party favors...lol) I did stay away after that and then I just got busy.
Things have been very busy with 2 toddlers and I haven't even had a chance to lurk.

Here is a brief update:
Michael is doing a mom&tot preschool (Reggio Emilia approach) 2 days a week. He loves it!!! I am on the board and very busy with that.
Lola had her first bday. We did a "Lola Palooza" theme and I tie-dyed tee shirts for the party favors. A task that ended up being much harder than I thought! She got a bitty baby as a gift and walks around with it everywhere and even insists on sleeping with it!
Michael is a very good big brother and acts like Lola's mommy.

ETA: I hope everyone is great! Sarah, we HAVE to get together one of these days.

I am still here from time to time, the trick is finding more time! :) Thanks for thinking of me Erin!

I have been trying to pop in here more often, but finding the time with three girlies has been crazy. Plus, I've been soaking up all the Bridget baby time I can get. LOL! She can reduce her mother to happy tears when she smiles! :)

I start back to work today though--albeit from home :)--so I should hopefully be around a little more.

Julie, I've never really known you (although I did buy at least one item from you on swap), but I definitely noticed when you seemed to disappear from the boards. I assumed you were busy -- basically, I wouldn't post to find out where someone was if I hadn't had contact with them outside the boards, because I'd assume they probably have things going on in their lives that preclude activity here: things they probably would have communicated to others privately, but might not wish to discuss publicly.

You have been missed here -- even by people you may not know. And this part goes for everyone: don't assume that no one posting to ask where you are means no one's noticed you're gone. Sometimes, people notice, but they're busy too; sometimes, people just want to respect your privacy.

I'm still around too, though certainly not as much as I once was. Mostly, I just feel that as my kiddos have gotten older (my "baby" is now almost 3!), I've kind of "aged-out" of the more baby-oriented groups I used to be a part of. BBB has been so very important and special to me that I can't cut the cord entirely-- I do check in here and at a few other topics (RL, Around the House) once or twice a week. As I visit less frequently, though, I post less freely, since I know things move fast and I won't be "known" by a lot of newer members. But if I have an experience or perspective different from other posters, I'll still chime in. It does give me the warm fuzzies to hear I've been missed!

Hmm, I've noticed that RL doesn't get as many posts as it used to and couldn't figure out why. I remember there used to be fashion shows and so many posts that I would have two pages to catch up on if I missed a day. Now it barely moves. I remember there was some concern over having pictures of DCs displayed where anyone can see them and assumed that was the reason. Can someone fill me in on what happened?

Sickos were stealing photos of babies in cloth diapers from another parenting board for a fetish website so many got nervous about posting photos of their children so freely.
