Well we finally got our finalization date for Zach's adoption - 10/24/05 and everything went off without a hitch.
It's been quite a ride and after all our ups and downs of the past few years - looking back at them - I'm glad it all worked out how it did (even the first "failed" adoption when the birthmom changed her mind and decided to parent with 2 weeks to go) - because we have pretty much the most adorable 'lil guy anyone could ask for! :)

Congratulations, Bill. Your big boy is absolutely precious, and I love to see what a great proud papa you are (and your fabulous pictures, too!).
ETA: If I recall right, we have the same camera, but I still don't really have it down. How do you get such a short focal length that you get the blurred background. I always try for it and it never really turns out right.

Well kinda...my wife's mom and stepdad and my dad went with us to the hearing. Mother-in-law and stepdad stayed for dinner at our place afterward that my wife made - but my folks couldn't come because my mom's recovering from a stroke - so it was pretty low key - but that's how we like it. :)
I'd imagine next year we'll have a more formal celebration though.

Ours was low-key too. :) DH's family is getting older and has a hard time travelling, so it was just my parents. It's kind of a funny story though.
Our finalization hearing took place in a county courthouse that is 1.5 hours drive from our house. We're not familiar with the area, so I picked out a place from the internet that had an interesting looking lunch menu. It turns out the place was more or less a gay establishment. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!) It wasn't so much a problem, except that my Dad and DH were the only straight men out of 6 men in the place. Also, the restaurant had no high chairs or changing station in the restroom -- not exactly kid-friendly. (Sean had a dirty diaper while we were there. I had to change him on the floor in the corner of the dining area of the restaurant!! Poor DH was so embarrassed.)

haha! that's funny - and that line "Not that there's anything wrong with that!" reminds of that one episode of Seinfeld! :)

That's one of DH's an my favorite shows. :)
The great thing about the finalization hearing, I think, is that while you knew all along that it was "meant to be", it's a great feeling when it's all official. :D
