My trusty consignment shop let me down this season - all the costumes were icky. So I got a great costume from Babystyle and think it was completely worth the $20. You only turn one once!

I just bought a hat and a "western-style" shirt (on sale) at one of our local western/boot stores (there are many where I live in Texas, LOL). We've paired the shirt and hat with a jean dress for Ellie's cowgirl costume. And she can still wear this outfit for "western" day at Mother's Day Out, which is held about once a month, I'm not kidding!

It only let me vote once (I hate that feature)

I made DS2s costume from this pattern:

http://freeknittingpatterns.lionbrand.com/patterns/kms-corn.html

DS1s was a gift from SIL - store bought. (Very odd for her to send - a bit too personal for someone who we only talk to 3x per year and has never seen the kids, KWIM? But that's a topic for the BP.)

Gee, I got a great costume from BBB Swap, can't say enough about the person who I got it from! ;)

I voted made from scratch, except I must admit that I'm not the one who made it from scratch. My MIL is amazingly talented and has made the last three of Roley's costumes. This year's ladybug is my favorite!

I voted "made from scratch," but it was more "assembled" than "made."

I don't know how to sew, but I assembled a Wonder Woman costume from blue pajama pants, a red onesie, some white star-shaped buttons, yellow felt, and some bits of yarn.

Oh, and of course a Gold Lasso of Truth!

None of the above. I have two costumes for this year. One is the pig costume from last year that I let out (it was an 18 month old costume and I had to take it in last year for it to fit). The other is a bee costume that DH's aunt found in a shop last Christmas. Both fit perfectly this year. :)

DD's kangaroo outfit was only $6.00 on E-Bay. Total steal!

My costume came from swap and the costume I sent you also came from swap- a mix up with the original owner and I had already bought Toby a bear! I love swap.

DH took DD#1 to Kroger right after this new babe was born. She already had a puppy dog costume planned, but luckily not assembled. Kroger had the most adorabe giraffe ( her favorite) for $11.24 and DH says DD made a beeline for it.

So the puppy dog nose and ears will go in the dress-up clothes and the brown pants I'd gotten for it will just be brown pants!

eBay for me as well. It's a Gymboree costume from a few years ago.

My wonderful sis makes us costumes for DD"s birthday every year (well, of two so far). Last year she was the Hungry Caterpillar, this year, I'm still waiting on the package to see what she will be.

I voted for bought new, but it's really a 50/50 combination of things that were purchased ready-made and things I made.

I bought one new and bought one from the BBB Swap. I also made Rose something this year. I made Nate's costume last year, but at this point, it's often cheaper to buy something than it is for me to make it, which is different than how it was when I was a kid. The storebought costumes of my youth were always pretty crummy.

We made dd's from scratch in about 10 minutes. Made a no-sew poncho by cutting a circle out of cheap red fleece, and glued on some black felt circles. Voila - instant ladybug! Now I need to make a pipecleaner/pompom antenna headband, and we're all set.

I made from scratch, for the first time! Last two years I bought him a costume. I started with a "we'll just throw a little something together" attitude, and then the obsession kicked in! 6 hours, or so, of sewing later, it was done! And the 6 hours does not even include all the time I spent planning it our and cutting the shapes from the felt.

Thankfuilly, he loves his turtle costume, because I can't imagine how depressed I'd be if he refused to wear it after all that!

DS' grandmother sent us one of his cousins old costumes, a lion. He hated wearing the hood, but he had fun anyway!

BBB-Swap (or it might have been diaper swap) for 12 bucks, NWT - and she happens to be loving Care Bears right now, so it was a stoke of luck!
