I don't have much time to type, since I *should* be getting baths ready, etc, but I just got back from an afternoon at the ballet with my 3 1/2 year old, followed by a stroll on the outside pedestrian mall, some shrimp appetizers and a couple glasses of wine (I was fine to drive, really) and it was just SO nice. Unless we go out as a family, I am usually the one at home with the 18 month old, and DH gets to take the older guy to do something fun. It was so wonderful to go out with a kid who is old enough not to climb on everything in sight and scream when frustrated - and to do something cultural too. I think I need to take the next step and ask some friends, rather than my 3 year old to join me next time, but I guess I just wanted to say, in the vein of that Dr. Phil or Oprah show that someone had posted about, that it is important to do fun things for ourselves. And it seems like everyone on this board is such a dedicated mommy - I hope they don't forget to be good to themselves. Let's all try to do something special for ourselves this month, to make us feel rejuvenated and good. (or tipsy, as the case may be with me, since that post ballet cocktail once I got home just about did me it, but I ain't knockin it). If you regularly do this, then keep it up, and give the rest of us some great inspirational ideas. If you are guilty (like me) of basically working all day, either in an office or at home, and then devoting almost the rest of all of your time to your kids, the house, and your family, then maybe you can try to do just something fun, just for you, and share what you did here.
ok. back to reality. time to draw the bath, get the dinner dishes, etc.... :)
