What's up with Bob and Wendy

Does anyone else think something is going on between Bob and Wendy on Bob the Builder?

DS loves this show, and MIL gave him a 3 DVD set. One of the DVDs, "Celebrate with Bob" has Wendy mooning up to Bob the whole time - I was expecting Bob to go upstairs with Wendy after they won the country line dancing competition, even. Wendy called Bob "Cowboy" for goodness sakes!

Does anyone else thing something funny is going on here? Is it to keep parents and caregivers forced to watch it over and over again something interesting to pay attention to?

Or am I the only one noticing this strange Bob and Wendy relationship?

OMG! You should hear my DH while DS is watching Bob! LOL!! The Line dancing competition one is soooo obvious! He should just kiss her for gosh sakes! How about the one where she makes him a cake for his birthday?. She totally swoons.

DH thinks there is a love triangle, though... if you see the one where she "unclogs" J.J.'s "printer". Yeah, right.

LOL, DD's just watching that one about the Bday now and Wendy def is mooning up to him! Yes we think there's something going on!

My favorite is when Bob and Wendy get together to eat desserts. They each make a whole cake or something, and Spud ends up coming along. I have often wondered what would have happened if Spud wasn't there intruding. Of course, I also think they would just be sick from eating all that dessert....

I think they will get together when the rating start to fall. Then they will have a baby, which will pretty much kill the show.

All the episodes mentionned above except one are on this DVD...it's so weird!

I do find it odd that Wendy made a chocolate and Bob made a cream cake..."I'll have some of your cream cake, Bob" has SO many undertones I don't think are appropriate for DS!

And what is Spud, anyhow?

ETA: And who is Mavis, at the post office? Have we ever seen this character?

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one who thought there was an entirely inappropriate relationship going on there! :)

Now I don't feel so guilty about having such thoughts about a kid's video. Thanks!!!!

I always just assumed they were married. In the Pets in A Pickle DVD it seems as though they live together. Plus in a Bob book we have, Bob is calling Wendy and telling her that he is "coming home:.

Hmmm...well, they have seperate homes in the earlier ones (which I like better). I'll keep an eye out in the new episodes that are airing, to see if I get the same vibe...

Yup. There is always a moment in each episode where they look longingly at each other. :)

LOL! A few weeks ago DH called out to me, "Bob and Wendy are on a date!" And I came running. It was the episode where the restaurant reopens, and Wendy gets all dressed up for it, etc.

I took it as a sign of how pathetically little romance is in my life right now that DH and I got so into discussing what was going on. This thread makes me feel a lot more normal now! :)

DH and I are big fans of the romance in Bob and Wendy's life...I never noticed it until DS got the DVDs, but it's so clearly there...

Spud is a scarecrow on Farmer Pickles farm. Actually a very ineffective scarecrow.

And I TOTALLY agree with you about the Bob and Wendy. I've noticed that for a long time, and think it's kind of wierd for a KIDS show.

DH and I have noticed something going on, but we only have a DVD specific to Muck. It's sad, I actually WANT to go out and buy the DVD so that I can see the romance, the romance that I am in need of :) I wish DH would bake me a cake, or take me dancing. I guess I'll have to live thru Wendy. So sad for me.

I've seen Bob the builder just once (while trolling for programs to DVR for DS) and it was the restaurant opening epi with Wendy getting ready etc. Although I knew nothing about these characters, I was immediately struck by how they seemed like a dating couple...in fact, were it not for this thread, I would not have any reason to think otherwise :)

OK, this is how pathetic I am, my DH and I have conversations about this, and not just Bob & Wendy. We think Mrs. Percival (or however you spell her name) voice sounds like she should be doing phone sex. (Sure she was giving Bob "dance lessons" in that one episode.) We haven't ruled out that the italian couple that owns the restaurant aren't really swingers. Mr. Beasley has tried to hit on Wendy (pigeon/bat episode) and he had his eyes popping out at Molly (fashion show episode) but I'm still consideing he's gay (pink ballerina on the book selves, pigeon/bat episode).

I'm convinced the animation staff probably have made a Bob the Builder porno moving in off hours. Come on, wouldn't you after years of doing this just to get a laugh?

ok, so i got ds the bob dvd: a christmas to remember (i have no idea if it's old or new) and at the end bob gives wendy a kiss on the cheek!!! romance, plus elton john guest stars! he is the reason i got the dvd (from bru) i had to see what elton john looked like in bobville. sadly, he looks like he does irl :)

has bob kissed wendy like this in other episodes?
