OT: for those of you who blog

I started a blog on blogger.com, but I'm wondering how do you let your family & friends know when you've added an entry? Do you continually e-mail them? Do you just let them look themselves? Most of my family & friends need to be prompted and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to go about that. Any input would be great.

Our family & friends are obsessive checkers. :) I keep up with other people's blogs using a service called Bloglines (www.bloglines.com). You can subscribe to RSS feeds and get notified everytime a blog is updated.

Set up a mailing list at www.notifylist.com and have them sign up for it.

Some family members check my blog frequently (and complain when I don't update it!), others only check it when I send out an update notification. What I do now is send out a notification every month or so, or when something "big" happens (e.g. we finally uploaded pictures of DS). The people who check my blog often have just gotten into the habit of doing so over time, with just occasional prompting.
