I guess the miracle has passed. Anna is no longer sleeping through the night. It seems to have coincided with her cold that she got earlier in the week. I have still been using the MB but am wondering if anyone else has ever had a child overheat in them. It sounds kind of dumb but she had on a fleece jammie with a ss onesie underneath and she woke up at 1a crying-I brought her into bed with me and realized that she felt really hot. I unwrapped her and fed her and took her temp-she was only 100.3 but she felt HOT. I think this happens when I put her in fleece. Now it gets a little wierd here-I have cold urticaria-that is I am allergic to cold (Why do I live in Maine you ask?...) My nephew was also recently diagnosed with it-his manifests differently-he cannot wear fleece as he gets too hot cannot cool down and ends up covered in hives. It took them months to diagnose him while the poor kid suffered with hives. Does this sound crazy-that she might have this?
She did have a cold earlier in the week so I am trying to decide whether her not sleeping through the night is because she is still sick-ie ear infection and she really did have a low grade temp. Ack. I am rambling from lack of sleep.
She rolls both ways now-can I put her down to sleep on her tummy? I cannot for the life of me remember when I did with Jack and she has been back sleeping with the MB.
Thanks for sticking with me.

We went through something similar, but not related to illness. Fory just started sleeping really crappy, waking almost hourly. He was about 8mo, and we finally just unswaddled him and helped him figure out sleeping unwrapped. He did start sleeping on his tummy. I still put him down on his back, but he flips over pretty quickly. There was a bit of fussing and crying involved, but pretty minimal. Good luck! Maybe try some unswaddled sleeping over the weekend, when you and DH could take turns with naps in the day, if it goes poorly. If Anna can roll herself back and forth, there's no reason she can't sleep on her tummy. She'll probably end up that way, if she prefers it, even if you put her on her back.

I'm sorry she's not sleeping as well. :( I'm not any help with the fleece part though, so far I just put Elowen in a onesie and socks and then wrap her in the miracle blanket. If it's really chilly (which it hasn't been much yet here), I just lay the blanket my mother knitted her over her (but only to about her waist or so) for extra warmth. She was getting overheated when we first started using the blanket because I was dressing her in a gown and then wrapping her. Since I stopped doing that, we haven't had a problem.

As for the tummy thing, we never put Taran on his tummy, he eventually just started rolling over onto it and sleeping that way. I figured if he could roll onto it himself, he was fine sleeping that way. He now flops into all sorts of positions while he's sleeping. ;)

I caved and took her to the ER. After way too long of a wait in an ER that you happen to work in we were finally seen. She has an ear infection although not a horrible one. His recommendation is to wait on the antibiotics and see if it clears on its own. I am glad I went because now tonight when I am awake most of the night (again) I can reassure myself and not feel guilty because I haven't had her checked.
I think I will try one less layer on her tonight. Thanks!

Glad you found out what's bothering her, though! And I hope it clears up soon and that she starts sleeping better again. :)

Oooh not to mention the big front tooth that is coming down. I just noticed it. Explains alot-probably the ears, too.

Funny, B. My two 5-6-05ers have been having all kinds of tumult in the past month or so. Aside from a really mild coksackie bout, it all seems due to teeth. I feel like I remember this with DS too - all kinds of sleep problems and then boink - a tooth! Hindsight IS 20/20.

Good luck!

Barbara.. hope Anna is feeling better and the infection is clearing up and the tooth has popped through.
I was thinking that fleece jammies with the flannel blanket might be too warm though (especially with a ss onesie under the jammies)? Are her legs in the blanket or out? If out, then maybe fleece pajama bottoms with a cotton ls onesie? Just a thought.

The miracle blanket weaning (or growing out of) days are rough! I was so desperate, I emailed Mike of the Miracle Blanket and asked if he had larger sizes or solutions for older kids (when Leela was 8 months old). He emailed back and said that maybe at 8 months we should gradually remove her reliance on the blanket. It was rough for a while but now she sleeps like a champ.

Oh Barbara, sorry your little one is sick. I know what you mean about feeling guilty...I do that too. Maybe you have discovered most of her sleep problem.

I agree with the layers though, she may be too hot with fleece and MB. Hope you all are getting some sleep. ((((HUGS))))

LOL-In the psych field we call them straight jackets!!!

Still no sleep-instead Anna and I had Jack join us a 5a. He wanted to go play OUTSIDE. He yells it-total emphasis. Umm Jack-we live in Maine it is only 24 degrees out. Not to mention it is pitch black.

The tooth is almost in. I am sure it will be in by the time DH is back with us at night. It is so hard when I am struggling with both of them. I think once that tooth comes down it will get better. I ditched the ss onesie last night and just had her in her zipper with socks. Seemed less warm but then that could have been due to the motrin I gave her. I'm at a complete loss.

Katie-we should team up and then one of us could sleep. I can't imagine how hard it must be with both of them teething at once. Kinda makes my A look like a dream. I really should stop complaining.

Yes we should team up. And NOOOO you should NOT stop complaining! Haven't all of us mommies earned that occasional right? :)
