Would you get them something for their kids? I never know what to get people. I often get Gift Certificates for Macy's or someplace like that. But there are a few people this year who have young children. I thought I might get a Gift Certificate to Gymboree or Hanna Andersson or something. Would that be weird? How would you feel if you got a present for your kid instead of for yourself? TIA.

I'd stick with somewhere like Macy's - they can always shop for their kids instead of themselves. Or do a mall gift certificate where they can decide at which store to use it.

It's probably safest to stick with something like Macy's, but if you know their kids/have met them, they might appreciate the kid-focused gift. Last year a colleague of my husband, got our daughter some Elmo slippers b/c he had remembered my DD telling his DD how much she liked hers. The gift was obviously in place of a gift to my DH and we loved it!
