Not only am I at a loss of what to put on my wish list, I have NO IDEA what to get DH for Christmas. He said he wanted clothes for work (BORING...) but I can't think of much of anything else. I usually always have at least ONE fun surprise up my sleeve.

Here is his list so far:
- work clothes (dress shirts, ties, dress slacks)
- wool winter coat
- golf club driver (can't really get this as he should have to pick it out)
- golf lessons (did this already for Father's Day this year)
- BOSE headphones, maybe if they are worth it (the ones that block noise when traveling on a plane)

???? What else???

Well, seeing that you will be VERY pregnant at Christmas pretty much ruled out my first thought of types of fun surprises.

How about if you got him something fun to do with Ean? It could be a pass to something (kid's gym, children's museum, etc). It would be good daddy-son time for them and give you some time with just the new baby.

If you want something just for him, I think the headphones are a nice option. I can't think of anything good for my dh (or myself!)either, so I'm not much help.

ETA: I was looking around on surprise.com and saw these:

i gave dh the bose headphones for a birthday a few years ago. he loves them and still uses them a lot! last year i think he got socks and shirts for x-mas :) boring, but he wanted them. this year he's getting the new i-pod and he is really going to love it. he even admitted that he had been looking at the ipod website... little does he know, i already have one wrapped and ready to go!

DH's wishlist (I think...)
Hockey tickets
New heart rate monitor
a few books
a new beer making kit (he homebrews)
I know he'd love a Roku (Sp?) devices thingie that lets you play music stored on your computer anywhere in the house, but he'd never ask for it for Christmas.

I also picked him up 12 different bottles of microbrews from across the US and the rest of the world at World Market. He's had a rough semester of grad school and I think it will be a welcome gift ;) They will be boxed and wrapped...I don't think he'll guess he's getting that.

LOL! Very pregnant, indeed! If I am on the same track as your first comment, it would be a surprise to say the least!!!

Updated info that DH emailed me:

http://www.rokulabs.com/products/soundbridge/index.php
Roku Labs doesn't support music files purchased from iTunes, but you should be able to work around it by burning those songs you purchased onto a CD and then rip them back off the CD and into iTunes. Or you can get more complicated with some programs found on the internet.

http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_overview.html
Slims devices will probably have the same problem with iTunes files because Apple does not permit streaming music to be played over a network. You can still work around using the same idea above. Slim devices supports more operating systems in addition to the Mac and Windows that Roku Labs does. Additionally, Slim Devices software for it's system is Open Source so the source code is freely available and people sometimes come up with neat ideas to make it better. I don't know how much people will really need this but if you have a die-hard computer junkie it might be cool.
Slim Devices cost a bit more but seems to have a program for managing the program via a web browser. Roku has three products, one with built in speakers. The other two Roku products and the Slim Devices products require hookup to your home stereo. Both offer streaming internet radio even without the computer on. Both have remotes. I don't think you could go wrong with either. The one feature that might be really nice would be the Vacuum Fluorescent Display versus the standard Liquid Crystal Display. Roku you can get at a lot of big box stores but slim devices needs to be purchaed online.
================================================== =========

I'm soooo not tech saavy but I guess it is some device that will transmit the songs from your computer so that you can play them on your stereo. It apparently is a PITB to use with itunes and you have to rip it onto a cd, then back onto your desktop using non Apple software to get around that. But if you store a lot of other music on your desktop or laptop it should work I guess.

I know very little about it...just know DH has been talking about getting one for 2 years or so.

Here are some links:

The other big maker is slim devices I think:

http://www.hometoys.com/htinews/aug03/reviews/slimp/slimp.htm

I remember DH discussing pros and cons of each but for the life of me can't remember now. This was a discussion from a 2 years ago and I was probably only half listening ;)

I'll ask Dh more about them when he gets home today. I thought about proposing this for an upcoming anniversary gift to ourselves (we often buy something for the house that we both want) so it is a good time to discuss it.

DH is way more tech smart than I am. I live in the darkages other than email and the web ;)

OOH thanks Beth! Now to consider if he has been bad or good this year. :) And thank your DH for the gift tip!

DH has a birthday this weekend - DD & I went on a shopping trip this morning - here's what we came up with:

Candy (DD said he "needed" this!)
Pistachios (DD chose this, too!)
Long-sleeved Gap t-shirt
Long-sleeved Gap lightweight sweatshirt (went with casual stuff b/c DH splurged on custom shirts earlier this fall)
New leather gloves
New slippers
Sirius car system & subscription (I probably should've gotten the home adapter, but figure he can use the computer streaming for his work computer.)

His list is a little long this year b/c I got a *very* nice just because gift a couple of weeks ago :) Also, the Sirius was a last minute addition while at Best Buy picking up ink cartridges... My brother is coming over this evening to install it for me so he can use the system when we hit the road for Thanksgiving.

I'd planned on a new dress coat / topcoat for his Christmas gift, but he bought one for himself last time we were out shopping together, and he splurged on himself with a new travel golf bag & irons after landing a huge new account earlier this fall so those ideas are out... So now I'm completely out of ideas & Christmas is coming up fast!

It sounds like he's a golfer... what about a new pair of shoes, or a travel bag? I know DH wears his shoes into the ground, and until he treated himself always borrowed my dad's travel bag...

I was just looking through the new "Real Simple" magazine this morning and they have "50 gifts under $50". I usually find an idea or two. I thought this was kind of cool- "The Book of Cool" by Ocelot productions for $40. Here's the description: Give your cool cat this set (a book and 3 DVDs) and he'll learn from videos and stop-action photos- 250 slick moves from the world's best pen twirler, bartender... The golf tricks will make him the envy of the links. www.zippergifts.com

DH is getting snowshoes and a GPS system this year. We've been talking about the snowshoes for a couple of years now. I went ahead and ordered us all a pair and hopefully there will be snow so we can go out on Christmas :)
