Jera/Natalie UPDATE #17

Sorry it has been a while ~ Jera and I have been playing phone tag. :( Anyway...Little Miss Natalie is GROWING!! As of this AM, she was 3# 1oz!! She has been yoyo-ing quite a bit due to the steroids and water retention but seems to be hanging around 3#. Natalie is now getting 24cc of fortified EBM every 3 hours!! The GREAT news is that hopefully Jera will be able to nurse her for the first time this weekend!!!! They are waiting to see how she does for a few days, after her caffeine was d/c'd. The caffeine was given to help remind her to breathe and, I guess, they want to see how she'll do without it on CPAP.

Jera had a fun past weekend. Her mom, grandmother, aunt, and two cousins all came to see her and had a girls' weekend! They all stayed at a hotel, watched a "Broadway" play, and stayed up late with girl talk. They were all able to meet Natalie. A much-needed "break" for J... :) This weekend her MIL and SIL are meeting Natalie.

Oh, what a wonderful update to read just before Thanksgiving! That's so exciting that she's been growing and continues to improve. But I'm also excited to read that Jera had a much needed relaxing and fun weekend to recharge her energies! I will continue praying for Natalie and her family!

Hoorah! Natalie really IS a fighter!

My best friend mentors teen mothers -- one of her mentees had a baby born at 23 weeks when the mom was 17. The little girl is now 6!
