Help - Can I take Sudafed during the first trimester?

Is it okay to take Sudafed at 8 weeks pregnant? I desparately need some relief from ear pain that started late this afternoon. I get quite a few ear infections throughout the year so I have no doubt that this another one. The doc's office is closed so I thought I would ask the smartest ladies on the 'net. I hate to take anything but I fear I will be unable to sleep tonight without it.

Yes it is. I just asked my ob about sudafed during my appointment today, and he gave me the go-ahead.

According to my ENT, Ob, and allergist, Sudafed is fine as an occasional drug. Take as needed, just not every day. My ENT gave me a prescription antibiotic/steriod ear drop for my last bout of ear pain. He said that is one of the best choices as it stays more localized for pregnant ladies.
