What happens? You have to get a new one, right? New, expensive??

My sister's Dell laptop battery died, just past the 1 yr warranty. I can't share mine with her, I have an IBM...She basically has to get a new one, huh?

How much do these things run...she is a student and can't afford this at all. Ugh.

here's a link for you, Eri:

when my laptop battery died it would've been $200 to replace! So we didn't. we kept using it til the motherboard died by plugging it in to the wall, not as convenient as before, but it still worked for a while. I think mine is a Samsung.

HTH!

Yes, get a new one. It shouldn't be too much -- nothing compared to a new laptop.

In the meantime, it should work fine plugged in.

I would do a search (try both Google and Froogle) for the battery. You might be able to find a deal somewhere.

Also check coupon sites -- Dell.com has been doing a lot of coupons lately, so you can probably get something off the price there. (You can also just Google "Dell coupons".)
