I need to send some holiday gift baskets to some of my editors who give me a ton of work. However, I just found out that the company has a really low limit on what they're allowed to accept: $15. Since I'm doubtful I'm going to find anything nice for that amount, I figure I'll just bake some junk myself for them- maybe some brownies or cookies- I think if the stuff is homemade, even if I spend money on postage and packaging, it will be okay.

I am not really sure about how people go about mailing these types of things- how do people do it so that the items stay fresh? In addition, does anyone know of a site where I can order some nice tins/paper for this kind of stuff?

Rachel-

You might consider Frango mints from Marshall Fields. It looks like they are on sale for $11 online right now and that is what I paid at the store a few days ago. It might be the last chance to get some before they change the name to Macy's!

As for packaging ideas and supplies, try The Container Store (http://www.containerstore.com/index.jhtml). They have some neat things, like Chinese food boxes, etc. And tons of ribbon and gift wrap. There is one up in Northbrook right at the Lake Cook exit. There is also one near North and Halsted and a couple more in the suburbs.

You can pick up small gift tins in stores such as Michaels, AC Moore, etc. We just rec'd a few tins of cookies from my MIL. They were fine and she put bubble wrap on the bottom of the tin as well as in between layers.
