Nathan loves altoids both cinnamon and peppermint. The other day he found my altoid cinnamon gum and had 5 pieces in his mouth. His little eyes were watering so bad he looked like he was crying but he WOULD NOT spit them out he just kept chewing slower and slower. I finally ended up digging them out of his mouth and he pointed to the box for ANOTHER piece.

dylan likes to eat dogfood.

ok, well, he is 10 months old and doesn't really intend to eat dogfood. he just puts things into his mouth. but i can't tell you how many times i have to race after him to fish dogfood out of his mouth.

Joshua likes canned olives. Is that odd? To me it is because this kiddo will hardly eat anything and these are somehow okay.

Kaya actually does like sour things, so although I've never tried olives with her, I wouldn't be surprised if she did. She has been known to put limes and lemons in her mouth and although she doesn't chew them up and swallow, she does like mouthing them.

Oh, and Kaya still doesn't have a huge palate, but she does like lima beans (she'll pick out all the lima beans if she has a mixed batch of veggies), edamame, and frozen peas. Oh, and I was shocked when she ate some of my spicy jambalaya, although I've heard many kids do like things spicy.

Logan isn't a big eater by any stretch but does like some odd things considering. He loves olives, I mean, he LOOOOVES olives. I have to avoid the olive bars at Whole Foods etc. as he'll shriek for them in the store ;) But oh, not canned, they have to be "gourmet" type of olives. He's got quite the discerning palate I guess ;) He prefers Kalamatas.

I am avoiding cracker type foods with him whenever possible because of his early issue w/ a cavity. I know he likes crunchy stuff but a lot of those foods really stick to teeth. I picked up a pack of Nori (seaweed) at the store recently and he loves it toasted. I think it is the slight saltiness and slight crunch to it that he likes. I started off calling it a "cracker" but he now knows it is seaweed. It cracks me up to hear "more sea wee, more sea wee" from him. Oh, I'm sure the inlaws will love this over the holidays. I'll be the talk of the town with my MIL and her friends :P

Nathan loves lemon slices too. He always eats mine out of my water when we are eating out.

That is such a cute story, I can just picture him sitting there with a wad of "burny" gum (as my oldest daughter used to call it) just chewing away with LOL....

Olives...Sammy loves em', she'll eat a whole can of sliced black olives. I also make this tomato, mozzarella, tofu, and bean salad, and Sammy digs the tofu pieces out and eats them. She thinks it's chicken, and demands more chicken!!

DS loves wasabi shrimp chips and DD loves tobiko (fish eggs) and chicken feet (a dim sum dish)! Is that odd enough? ;)

There are so many foods Danny likes that I consider odd. Kumquates were his favorite snack for awhile. Couple days ago he ate two chunks of raw pumpkin that I was planning to bake. DS will also eat butter right out of the package, which I know a lot of kids do, but it is still odd to me. DS keeps trying to finish DH's garlick but so far does not swallow whatever he bites off. He does however eat all my onion whenever I have bagel with lox.

DD likes Cat Food, actually likes it. If she sees that the baby gate to the office is open (where we keep the cat's food) she will RUN into the office and scoop up a few pieces and shove them into her mouth. I really don't understand it, maybe because it is the forbidden food? Maybe it is the dish? Maybe if I got her a cat's dish to put her food in she would eat more? Anyway it is disgusting, part of me really feels she does it to get a reaction out of me, I think she likes seeing my "eww, gross" face, lol!

She also likes lemon and lime wedges a lot. And she enjoys chewing on cherry tomatos, but as soon as she bites into them she hands them over. She will even ask for them "Moto! Moto!"

I should preface this by saying that Mari will eat absolutely anything we give her. Well, except red meat. That's really the only thing she does not seem to like. She is really quite daring. But, her weirdest things that she really seems to enjoy:

- olives
- sea weed
- raw onions
- lemon and lime slices
- pickles
- spicy Thai curry noodles
- herbal tea (no caffeine or sweetener)

She's not very discerning, though, because she does enjoy some kitty kibble too. ;) She will often leave her snack at the kitty bowls in exchange for some of theirs. LOL

I basically just let her try whatever she asks for, and we are all often very surprised!

my dd's LOVE salt and vinager potato chips! I also love them and when we get sandwiches from the deli the three of us split a big bag and my dh sits there shaking his head!!! They also love black olives, we recently had 7 kids under the age of 6 over, and they went through a can of olives in about a half hour...

Nicholas loves most of the things mentioned already. Dog food, olives, onions, lemons and limes. We always have to surrender our lemon slices at a restaurant. One time, the waiter saw how he was enjoying our lemon slices and brought him a big bowl of lemons. It kept him quiet and busy for a while!

Stella (and now Francie) will eat black beans straight from the can--maybe not too weird, but definitely not something I would eat!!

Well, I don't consider eating broccoli to be odd, but my DD #1 kind of takes it to the extreme. I can't tell you how many times I've caught her gnawing on a whole head of broccoli which she sneaked out of the produce drawer, and when she was 2ish she used to load up her pockets with broccoli off of the veggie platters at playgroup (passing up the cookies and crackers). At age four she still does a happy dance when we have broccoli with dinner. I have no idea how she came out that way.. DH hardly eats vegetables at all, and although I love them, I'd rather have the cookies!

That's so funny about the altoids.. Who would have thought?

Okay, it's official--Kaya now loves smoked salmon (I got some from TJ's). She keeps picking mine off my cream cheese and bagel, so I have to keep on getting more. :P

Oh, and if you let her peel the clementine (have to start it for her, though), she'll actually eat a few. I hope this trend continues as she's never really eaten any citrus (with the exception of sucking on a lime or lemon wedge in a restaurant, but that doesn't really count)!

DS loves vegemite. He had his first taste and then lunged for the piece of toast. My half-Aussie boy has Aussie tastes. I grew up with it, so I don't think it's strange but DH and friends joke about it being child abuse.

Salsa. He'd eat it straight from the jar, if we let him. I do have to remind him to drink some milk every now and then as he's making funny noises and pointing at his mouth.

Chick-Fil-A cole slaw. Strange for a child who is resistant to almost everything else except for bread, oatmeal, pancakes, applesauce, yogurt and jarred peas!

What is up with olives? DS goes crazy for them that and he likes medium buffalo wings, he'll take bbq or mild, but med are his fav.
