I'm trying to decide between the Canon S2IS and the Sony DSC-H1. I've read MANY online reviews and we've gone to the stores to test them both out (but there's only so much testing we can do at the store!). However, I'm still undecided. I was hoping someone here might own one of these cameras and could tell me what their likes and dislikes are. Thanks :-)

Here's some reviews on the sony:

We don't have this one, we have the Sony DSC-W5 and are very happy with it. It also has 5.1 megapixels and the picture quality is great. The only thing I'd change if buying it today would be to get the next one up that has 7 megapixels because obviously prices come down so now we could get that one for the same $$ we paid. We ordered online from butterfly photo (they had the best price) and were very happy. We love our Sony camera! We also bought an extra memory stick from ebay so we could hold more pics.

I have the DSC-H1 but I'm far from a camera expert. I had a 3 MP Cybershot for years and was familiar with the operating system so I had a certain comfort level with them. I choose the DSC-H1 based on the very good reviews it got for being able to use it well as a novice and as a more advanced photographer. I still use mine of the default settings but I have aspirations of getting my act together and becoming a more advanced user. It's a very easy camera to use. I LOVE the zoom. It focuses fast and easily and shoots fast. We have a digital video camera so I don't use that feature at all.

I know people adore their Canons and the reviews which I'm sure you read really place them neck and neck. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I love Canon point and shoot cameras. I've never been a big fan of Sony cameras...but a friend of mine has a DSC-H1 and he's taken some pretty amazing pictures with it.

Here's a link to Pbase - you can search user galleries based on the kind of camera - should give you an idea of how good a shots are possible with whatever camera you may be considering:

I've been researching these also. Does anyone know anything about the Panasonic DMC-FZ20? I've been reading some fantastic stuff about it lately too.
