I have a pair of Columbia Bugabootoo boots. They are actually *too* warm and bulky for everyday use. However, i live in the northeast so some kind of warm boot is compulsory. I saw some in the LL Bean Catalog and was wondering if anyone has experience with them? Or maybe another recommendation?

Carren,

I saw those Bugabootoo boots, they look really cute. I have always liked ll bean, I don't know which ones you are talking about, but the quality is really good. My favorite boots when we are in Boston are UGGS, they aren't really waterproof, but they are the perfect weight and warmth. They are light and easy to wear all day, and they keep you warm outside with the sheepskin, but also comfortable inside. I wear them all the time, and they are also meant to be worn without socks if you want, so very easy. I know they are trendy, but they are also incredibly practical and there are tons of styles.

My DH just got the LE Squall boots. He likes them, worn once. Very lightweight and warm compared to his usuals (Timberland). I am thinking of getting a pair if they go on sale.

I live in NY and just got similar ones from LE. Winter hasn't really hit here, so I can't say how they will do but so far, I really like them. They are extremely comfortable and warm, but not too warm. They are definitely not as bulky as some of my other boots and you can slip them on and off without having to untie them. This I find very handy when carrying an infant into the house. And the best part, they are only 39.50 :-).

Another vote for the LE Merinac boots. My Mom wore these all last winter (she lives in the Hudson Valley area in NY) and adored them. She actually ordered herself a new pair for this winter so she could have 2 (different color thing). The great thing is you can try them and then return them if they aren't what you need.

I see a lot of girls at school wear variations of Uggs(and one who looked like she was wearing two small furry puppies the other day, but I digress). Not the same brand, but same idea. I thought they were out of style, and perhaps they are, but as far as comfort goes, they look like they can't be beat! Flat, warm, not fussy, etc. I want a pair for myself now but ain't going to happen.

Oh, and in terms of style, while I was waiting for my coffee the other day, this girl was wearing the Ugg-style boots (different brand, darker color) with argyle tights and a skirt, and looked very nice AND comfortable. I can never pull that off :)
