How do you hang your Christmas tree ornaments?

I'm thinking that the little wire hooks are a major toddler-hazard, so what do I use to hang ornaments on my currently bare tree?

Last year, we just used those little wire hooks, and were planning on doing the same this year. Taran didn't do anything with them last year (he was 13 months old at the time), and we've got a gate we can put up in front of the tree just in case.

I just use a piece of ribbon and tie it it a bow and use that in place of the little wire hooks.
Not only safer, but prettier.

We use ribbon too. I bought two packages of ornament ribbons, one gold and one red from Crate & Barrel last year. I don't remember how much they were but it wasn't much. Just loop it through and it's done.

Not sure if these would be a hazard also, but they're better than wire at least! I've seen green plastic ones (they are much thicker than the wire ones) - they are a big loop w/an opening to hook the ornament on. I can't think how to explain them, but they're out there! :)

We use the wire hooks when necessary, but if the ornament has any sort of ribbon or hook on it already, I just hang it directly from that. I am going with the "never touch the Christmas tree" rule so I figure if she's gotten into the wire hooks then she's already doing something she knows she shouldn't!

The green hoops look like giant paper clips is the only way I can explain it. I love them. I get mine at Walmart

I use ribbon ornament holders. I bought them in packs at K Mart -- they're the Martha Stewart brand and come in many pretty colors. There were varying shades of gold, green, yellow, silver & cranberry, IIRC.
