View Full Version : Finally introducing myself...

I've been meaning to do this for a long time anyway, but especially now after reading the "welcome Ari" thread!

My name is Amy, and I live in Orlando, FL with my DH, DS, German Shepherd Dog and three cats. Samson is the dog.

I first came here for info on cloth diapering and have lurked there quite a bit and posted some. So far, I've gotten much more out of this community than I've put into it---something to do with being a new mom with lots of questions and not a whole lot of experience or answers. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute more in the near future, now that I'm 6 months down the road and have learned a few things.

I've been so impressed with how helpful and supportive everyone here has been, even on topics that can get pretty heated.

So...thanks everyone and I look forward to getting to know you all better!

Amy

Hi Amy, welcome!! I often feel like I am getting more out of BBB than I give. There are some wonderful mamas who give, give, give -- its amazing what a great place this is!

Enjoy -- and create that siggy!! You'll have 3 less letters to type. :)

Welcome, Amy! Just jump in, you'll be amazed at how much you can contribute. What's your DS up to these days? 6 months is such a fun age (of course they all are!).

Now THAT"S what this place is about. You come here to learn learn learn about something. You lurk for quite a while until one day you suddenly realize you have enough info about something to reply to another person's quest.

Welcome Amy!

Welcome and thanks for introducing yourself.

Just wait until you have that light bulb moment and realize you can post info to help another new mom. I never would have thought I would have over 900 posts, but this is my favorite message board and I always come here first if I need info on something. I would say I "lurk" a lot as well, since I don't feel the need to be repeat what others have already said.

Hi, welcome!

I believe there are others that live in the Orlando area! Don't worry about "lurking." I do so "lurk" too. Most of the time, I feel that I can't add any more wisdom to the OP and most of the other moms here are so intelligent and eloquent. I guess I feel "intimidated." LOL. In a good way. :) I have learned so much from all the boards here on BBB. Esp. the time when I learned (way before Consumer Reports wrote about it!) that DS' medication Elidel may cause cancer... I am forever grateful for that piece of knowledge!

In case you are thinking of ways to make your Siggi as colorful as possible, here is a link for animated smilies. :)

Welcome Amy!

I know what you mean about not having a lot to contribute. I felt that way for a while, too!

Stick around and before long you'll wonder how your post count got so high. :)

Welcome, Amy! I think most of us feel like we get more than we give over here, and that's sort of the cool thing about the BBB.

Thanks for introducing yourself. We look forward to getting to know you better. :)

Welcome Amy!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to introduce yourself. I think that the whole "Welcome Ari" thread may have been unusually misleading to a "newbie." Believe me, we don't bite. Maybe just growl or swipe a collective paw once in a while, though. ;)

Anyway. I hope your little guy is feeling better.

And yes, there are several different, very nice Mamas in your area!

Hi Amy,

Welcome! I hope that *other* thread doesn't scare away any lurkers because I considered myself a lurker for a long long time. I just didn't have much I thought would help anyone out. But after awhile you feel more comfortable, you find you have knowledge to share...99% of the time this is the best, most supportive online community I've ever seen!

Welcome Amy! I think you'll find that you do take a lot more in the beginning, before you have any info to give. Then, sometime, without even realizing it, you'll find that you have input to give to a new mom and off you'll go, posting like crazy!

Welcome! This is such an awesome place to hang out! There are so many helpful mamas here, it's like a community of girlfriends and sisters. I've learned so much in the almost 4 YEARS I've been here!

Welcome Amy! I know you from Butts, but it's very nice to see you here! It took me maybe 8 months before I even realized the Lounge existed (LOL). Even after so many posts, I still feel like I get much more than I give and that's because this community is so loving and supportive! I look forward to getting to know you better. :)

Welcome Amy. It is great to have you.

Don't feel like you don't give anything to the community. First of all you may ask a question that someone else wanted to ask. And second, we don't always talk about babies, so there will be plenty of topics that you will know plenty about.

Welcome. I'm glad you are willing to jump in. I too feel like I take much more from here than I give. Even when I have something to add it always seems as if someone else can say it so much more eloquently and concisely than I can! The good news is that there is alot of giving to go around here.

Hi Amy!
I just moved to Orlando 3 weeks ago with my DH, 2 DS's, a schanauzer and a Siamese cat. Quite a crew.
I "read" way more than I post, just lack of time really.
Welcome!
