Time between antibiotics doses

DS is on amoxicillin for an upper respiratory infection, and the instructions say to give it 3x per day for 10 days. Today, he missed his midday dose because we were at the airport trying to get on a plane and I didn't manage to give it to him. He had the second dose at 5:30 this evening. If I wanted to give a third dose tonight, how long do you think I need to wait?

In other news, boy is it good to be home. :)

I think with most antibiotics you add the dose at the end of the sequence rather than squeezing it in too soon before or after the next dose. So 1 dose on the 11th day. I am not a doctor or pharmacist, but that is what I remember from antibiotics scripts I have had.

Our instructions that came with the amoxicillin said to do the missed dose asap after missing it and add another dose five to six hours later. That was pretty consistent with what I found looking on the web, but I think it is just general info from the manufacturer. I never did call our ped and ask! Hope your little guy feels better soon.
